I recently sent in the N400 for my husband and just got a notice that it was rejected due to missing information which I already included in the original package. It asked me to include copies of both sides of the green card and 2 passport photos. I included both as is shown in the packet they returned to me. The only possible problem is that I made the copies of the green card (front and back) on one page instead of two pages. Could this be the problem? Has anyone else had this happen? Should I just redo the photocopies and send it back? I don't know what else the problem could be.

Thanks!

I also photocopied both sides of my greencard on one page, so I don't think this is the reason why your application was rejected.

Go over the list and see if you included everything USCIS asks for.

I used a copy of the GC with both front and back on the same page. I'd just redo and send back. Heck give them both ways and let them pick. DOUBLE check everything as normally when they do a RFE they get nick picky and ask for more than a couple things.

K1 denied, K3/K4, CR-1/CR-2, AOS, ROC, Adoption, US citizenship and dual citizenship

I double checked and everything is there (all pages of the form, correct check payment, front and back green card and 2 passport photos). I guess I'll send it again. This is confusing. The rejected letter said it was returned for the following reasons:

"Please ensure you have included the following items when you resubmit your application: A copy of both sides of your Form 1-551, Permanent Resident Card (PRC) commonly known as a "green card" and 2 passport style photos" ---> I included this. I even has a coversheet that detailed all the contents of the package.

"In addition, all applicants with any military service must provide a completed form g-325B..." --> This is not applicable to the case! My husband has not served in the military.

"All applicants whose place of residence is outside the United States must submit a completed Form FD-258..." --> This is not applicable to the case! My husband is currently in the U.S. and has not traveled outside of the States since he arrived over 3 years ago.

Nothing on the form I filled out would indicate that either military service and/or residing abroad is applicable to our case. Is this just a standard rejection form letter or did they make a mistake?

Thanks!

With my application I sent in proof for my marriage (copy of marriage certificate), proof that my husband is a US citizen (copy of his birth certificate), proof of the validity of our marriage (joint tax returns, birth certificates of children, lease papers, joint bank account statements, joint ownership of cars etc.). Your husband also might have to send in proof for his Selective Service Registration.

Make sure you filled out all the columns and if something is not applicable to you, put in N/A. And make sure your husband signs the top part on the last page (he signs the bottom part at the interview).

Give it another try, I guess. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Sorry to hear about this. My wife's N-400 was also rejected, in what we believe to have been a mistake. We are debating whether or not we should resubmit at this time or what until we get back from my work abroad. One thing that might be able to help is going to your Congressman's office or Senator's office. They often have direct lines into USCIS to make inquiries on behalf of constitutions. THey might be able to find out what USCIS's reasoning was so that your re-application will be better. Or they might even be able to get it reversed if it really was a mistake on USCIS's part.

Good luck!

Only problems I had with my wife green card, while I made a perfect scan of it, couldn't get any commercial place in town to print it out in color, could even read the back of it. This was crazy as I brought in the instructions for the N-400 showing them they were asking for a copy, still no go. So just broke down and purchased a color printer. Not very readable using even a good black and white photo copier. Both front and back were on the same page, and since it was expired, also enclosed a copy of the one year extension notice that was current proving she was a lawful permanent resident. Could that be your problem?

Other problems are sending it in one or two days early, or not typing in N/A in all those blanks that do not apply to you. Sounds like they sent you a general notice without specifics as to why your application was rejected, so have both you and the rest of us guessing. There are sections in the N-400 that are downright confusing like having to list the American Red Cross as an organization you have supported or are a member of, days out of the country in the last five years, how many times your USC spouse was married.

Make sure you have signed where needed, and not signed where requested to leave blank, make sure to put none or N/A on all spaces that didn't apply to you as to not leave anything blank. Recheck all documentation and make sure you're filing after the window has indeed opened and that you're eligible. Then resend the package.

Sorry for your situation. Be sure to read the N-400 Instructions: http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/N-400ins.pdf

Check the Guide To Naturalization, M-476. In the back of it is M-477, Document Checklist. http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/men...00045f3d6a1RCRD

You may have not submitted all the documents. The M-477 lists more than what is on the N-400 instructions.

Good luck and let us know what you have found out about your re-submission.
