Hi Everyone,

This is such a fascinating site. From the looks of people's signatures, it seems a lot of folks took the plunge to get married quite quickly after meeting their now fiance(e). Just out of curiosity, I was just wondering how much time you physically spent with your now fiance(e) before deciding to spend everyday for the rest of your lives together.

For my (now) wife and I, 4 months.

Just as an aside, when filing the petition you need to only document ONE meeting within the last two years before filing, all the other time spent together can be documented for the interview as "proof of ongoing realtionship" which said ongoing relationship can include time before and after the petition is filed.

Well we first established a deep friendship for a year and a half, and pretty much fell in love online (on myspace). I went out there for 8 days and we fell in love in person. But we didnt know HOW that would work out, never had heard of a fiance visa, so I'd say a couple months after that we figured out we really could be together.

He came here then for 10 days and we got engaged right before he went back home. Since then we have both each visited each other again.

so, after 2 yrs of daily correspondence with my best friend and maybe a 8 days together we knew we found the love of our life and wanted to be together forever.

We were together for 7 months straight, at the same university, we even lived next door to eachother in the dorms, and we spent basically all day everyday together (other than class and work of course!). Then, he went back home and I visited for 2 weeks about 2 1/2 months after he had left. The next time I visited, 7 months later, we got engaged. So the amount of time we were physically together before getting engaged was around a year. Since getting engaged we have seen eachother for about a month and a half total. We talk every day and have been in a relationship for almost 2 1/2 years now :)

Very little. 3 visits one week each. One at his home, one week at my home and one week in a neutral city to meet. We feel comfortable with each other. We call each other on a webcam every day, so that helps a lot.

We've been physically together just over a month, but we talk on skype cam to cam every day. We basically leave our webcams on the whole time we are home and awake, so its kinda of like being in the same room....only not lol.

I visited Umit once (first time - 2 weeks)

Then Umit visited me (2nd time - 2 weeks, I ask her to marry me) - then a third time (2 weeks again).

About 5/6 months between each visit.

Now we are waiting for the K-1 to finish at the embassy then she comes here for real. (:))

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

It depends on the maturity level of each other.

You are young, relative, so I'd suggest you spend extra time with each other, before making a life decision.

Some of us are older and more experienced, so we may do things different.

I would suggest that you follow the advice of the experienced folks and ensure that your relationship is real and stands up to the tests.

If you are serious in engaging in a lifelong comittment, then you both owe it to each other.

We met in an online game and knew of each other for about 5 years before we started talking off the game.

He came here for 5 days, I went there for 10 days, and we flew back together when he stayed for 3 months (he had been laid off, and I convinced him that it was the PERFECT opportunity!!). 15 days there (engaged) and then he was here again for 15 or so days just a couple weeks ago.

Add it all up, that's 132 days together (minus work, I was working 8 hrs a day when he was here for 3 months).

Also, the daily Skype calls, gmail chats etc.

I don't think it's unreasonable to think that good relationships can be formed online - you can really weed out the people who don't think the same as you on the important things because you aren't distracted by the early relationship pure attraction bits that you get in a local relationship. Well, unless you start out on webcams right off the bat...
