"None" versus "N/A" on forms

cass, there is also nothing wrong with simply answering with the correct information.

"Names of Prior Spouses"

"None/never married"

N/A in that case is not correct; the question DOES apply to you.

I read the forms many times, and I tend to disagree. I feel that if you have answered for question #6 Single, then question #9 can be N/A, as the question is truly not applicable since you are single. If you selected Widowed, Married, or Divorced, then clearly the answer cannot be N/A.

Look at it this way. If this was an online, interactive form, the second you selected "Single" in question 6, question 9 would have been disabled. (Unless I am missing something, and it is possible to have a prior spouse and be Single, yet not Married/Divorced or Widowed...)

That being said, I am in the minority; I think most people feel its safer just to answer none. I submitted my form with "N/A", and if I could resubmit it, I would write "N/A (single - never married)".

i really wish i hadn't started reading through this thread. Cuz then i dragged out the ol' visa file i've made and discovered the multiple N/As scattered throughout our petition. Then i also found that I forgot to put my social security number on one of the G-325A pages. I swear i checked those sheets a million times, and hopefully i caught that omission after i photocopied our packet.

What with studying for the bar exam and worrying about all of this stuff, i could very well go postal in a few days.

Rumor has it that they only are required to check the first page of the G-325A four page set, so you may be ok... It depends on how thorough your adjudicator is.

Oh! I didn't know that! That's a relief...tho i sort of have a vague memory of catching that particular mistake...although it could all be a wishful hallucination.
