My wife will be coming here May 3rd. We are trying to figure out the best way for her to ship some of ehr personal things, like some clothing. I think she will be able to bring a lot with her, but not everything.

Anyone have an idea of the best way to ship from the Philippines to the USA?

Thank you so much

If most of it is clothing, I would just pay the airline for the extra cargo space. Most international carriers allow up to two checked-in pieces of luggage, along with one carry on bag, and a personal item (laptop, handbag, etc...) You'll probably pay almost as much for the additional luggage on the plane, but at least she will have the peace of mind that her luggage will arrive with her. I hope this helps

There's FED EX, LBC CARGO,DHL etc. but I think it will take weeks or could be longer to ship items from there.I agree with jamster better to pay a little extra with the airline rather than to wait for her belongings when she gets here in the US.

We shipped two balikbayan boxes of our personal belongings to my husband in OH March 7th thru Manila Forwarders. Boxes reached CA (where their port is) about 10 days later. There was a problem with with US Customs bec my husband's signature not matching the one on his passport which created a 2 week delay. He called their office yesterday and he was told that customs has released the boxes and will be at his doorstep within the week, hopefully. There is an additonal fee if boxes are to be delivered outside of L.A. I think I paid a little over $200 for each 70-lb box.

You are the spouse of a K3 visa holder so that, provided you ahve been in the Philippines within the past year, you may have her stuff shipped to there. She cannot ship on her own as she is a non-immigrant spouse and she will be needing a SSN for the Supplementary Customs Declaration. Oh...and this is a One-time privelege only for USC's and legal permanent residents. I found it cheaper than fedex or dhl or even Johnny Air Cargo. Unfortunately, there isn't much companies shipping out to the US. Is more expensive too, than it is to ship from the US to here.

One thing to consider is shipping some things via the old fashioned Post office. Details will vary by originating country, but I have sent items this way from Japan (where I lived for over a year) and two large boxes cost about $150. Make sure you send it via "Sea" or whatever they call their slowest most economical way. It can take up to two months, but generally will arrive in < 1 month for most countries. Send the heavy stuff you don't *need* right away, books, out of season clothes, etc. And definitely take what you can on the airline. Whenever we finally get my sweetie's visa, I am going to fly and travel with her here, and will use my baggage allowance as needed (I can travel for two weeks on about 25lbs of checked luggage).

Hi. Do you still have the number of Manila Forwarders? I will be having my interview soon and if I pass, I will be travelling with my husband back to the US by May. But even with the combined baggage allowance, I don't think I don't think I'd be able to bring all my stuffs that I want to bring. I am thinking of sending them as soon as I pass my interview (I hope and pray I that I would), that is two months before we leave for US so that by the time we arrrive at the US, my stuffs would be delivered in his house as well. Thank you.

$ 200 for each 70 lb box. I only paid $150 for my 70 lb excess luggage. The amount i paid for my excess luggage is cheaper by $50.00
