NVC when to call

Hi,

I see some people call the NVC to get updates on their cases. I still don't have my NOA2. Is it too early to call the NVC? When I call and put my # in it says that they have no record of my case #. Is this bad? Shouldn't they have it already to say it was received??

If you do not have NOA2, then NVC does NOT have the case, so they will not have a record of case #. Lastly the NVC automated system does not track I-129F (K-Visas) you will need to talk to an operator.

Give it a few weeks after NOA2 and then contact NVC for status.

This is a bit off-topic, but in your signature line, Cereza, you state that you were engaged on Feb. 15th, 2009. Technically you were to have been engaged at the time you filed the I-129F petition. I would not tell an consular officer during the visa interview that you were engaged after sending in the I-129F petition.

This is NOT an issue, you need to have met within 2 years before filing the I-129F, and are un-married at time of filing. Engagement date is not an issue.

as long as they meet within 2 years, then they have met the requirement.........

uhhhhhh.... but you also need to submit a statement of intent saying that you intend to marry each other within 90 days of arriving here on the K-1 visa. Using any normal definition of "engaged" , I can see where telling a consular officer that you submitted such a statement and then became engaged 2 months LATER, might make them want to ask you a few more questions.......
