Guys

My case was approved in February of this year and I received the approval letter telling that I will get my card with 60 days. I haven't gotten it so far. Can you tell me if this is a problem?

Another question - I am going out of country next month for 2 weeks. If I don't get the card by then how do I get back in? My current GC expired on 3/15/09.

This is really crazy that they still haven't mailed me the card.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers!

Please go to My Assistant above and update your Timeline.

You said your GC is expired. Do you not have a NOA which extends your NOA for one year? If that is what has expired, do no leave the country.

Get an INFOPASS and take all the information and NOA's and card ordered letter and get them to give you another extension. Then you can travel.

Good luck.

If your original greencard (2 year) is the one that expired and you have an NOA extending that greencard for a year, you will have no problems travelling. If your NOA is what expired and your original green card expired back in 2008, then you can make an infopass appointment at your local USCIS office. Explain to them that you have travel plans - bring proof of your travel with you - and bring your unexpired passport with you. You can tell them you have not yet received your 10 year green card but have been approved, yet need to have proof of your status to travel. They can put an I-551 stamp in your passport that will work as a green card until you receive the actual green card. Remember, they will do this if you have no other proof of your status, but if you do have a valid NOA that extends your greencard past the time of your travel date you can use the NOA (with the expired green card).

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Thanks for your quick reply.

I am going to make an appointment to get this issue solved.

It is my GC that expired. My NOA that which extends your NOA for one year is still valid. I am going to the local office and discuss this.

My original card is the one that expired. NOA is still valid. Glad to know that I can travel without any problems.

But since I will be traveling with my family I want to make sure that I don't run into any problems. So I will make an appointment with the local office and discuss with them.

It is really weird that they seem to problems producing and issuing a GC card. Despite all the high they collect, they seem to be "inefficient" in certain things. :)
