K3 interview scheduled, CR1 case complete

We already set up an appointment for K3 which was 4 weeks from this date. Our CR1 was completed today as according to NVC operator. Are they going to send the CR1 papers after few days to Manila? The operator told husbie that they would not send it unless the CR1 interview was already scheduled. Is this true? He also told my husbie to call DOS and explain the situation.. Is that the right move?

We are hoping to flip K3 to CR1... Any helpful information would be appreciated.

Thanks..

I promise to love you in good times and in bad, with all I have to give and all that I am, in the only way I know how -- completely and forever......

The same happened to me, my K3 interview is scheduled on march 26th and my CR-1 case is completed on March 11th.And the NVC said my documents cant be sent untill they schedule CR-1 interview the second week of April, so I decided to go for K3 visa interview- recieve my K3 visa- fly to the USA, meet my husband and then come back to Russia and pass one more CR-1 interview. In the embassy they told me I can do so.Some people gave me advice to postpone my K3 interview, but I decided not to.Hope my answer helped you.

We are in the same boat, please keep posting on this topic so we all learn what you found out. I don't like the idea of them not sending the package to the Embassy until the CR-1 interview is scheduled. But I may have time. I sent in the package today, so if there are no problems I hope it will complete by the end of the month. That gives us 5 weeks before our May 11th interview date.

If you cannot switch the K3 to a CR1, then what is the advantage now of going ahead with the K3 interview if you know you are going to wait for the CR1 visa interview? I really want to be with my wife, but if it is a matter of 1 month, I don't think we are going to fly her and her daughter to the U.S. and then turnaround a month later and return back to Manila for the CR1 interview. That is just too much wasted on airfares.

I do remember people posting on this subject in the past but I have not been able to locate any successful switchers yet.

If you will finish by the end of the month then you could sched an interview for May on 2nd week of April.. Then they would send your papers to Manila after that. If the CR1 would be in Manila right before your K3 interview then it would automatically be CR1 as it is the superior visa. That is how I understand it.. So I guess, your May 11 sched would be safe.. We are also planning to re-sched our interview on 1st week of May..

I am also waiting if somebody could give another helpful input..
