NVC Barcodes....What the?

Hi,

I have been reading James and LingChe's NVC guides.

There is reference to creating a barcode to insert into a MS Word doc. It appears to be a copy of a letter that the NVC sends to the 'agent' (petitioner in my case) outlining that it must be sent back with the DS-230.

Is there any chance that they will email this letter?

Also, how is this different to the barcode that gets generated when paying the AOS and IV Bills?

Is it the same thing?

Reason being is that it looks like the letter from NVC will go to my husband in the US. However I have my DS-230 here in Australia. I am still waiting on my police reports. I want to be able to send my DS-230 directly from Australia.

I have to say, this whole process is so inefficient.

For the DS-230 submission. If your husband pays the bill online, then you can login to the online payment website, print out the barcoded coversheet and mail the entire ds-230 package to NVC.

When I call NVC, it stll keeps saying 'case # was assigned....". But I got AOS bill in email yesterday and I paid it. I guess that means I don't have to wait for AVR to say the bill has been generated, correct?

Yes you are correct. Since you have hard copy of the bill so you can pay it now.

A lot of times AVR doesn't upgrade, I think the best option is to always talk to a CSR of NVC to verify anything if you keep hearing the same AVR.

Doubt that, NVC doesn't work on weekends unlike USCIS. But then you never know who is doing some OT

I think you posted this question yesterday but they do. I think they have an automated system that sends out batches of emails over time so that if your in the last batch you could get an email at any time (ie my email from NVC at 2:18am)

Yes emails do go out on weekends. I recevied our DS-3032 confirmation via email on a Sunday.

Don't worry anymore about the barcode website. The new USCIS/NVC system allows you to automatically download the pdf of the barcoded cover sheet for both the I-864 and the DS-230 packages.
