Oh my I know how you feel

My family is so difficult too.

My Mother, Father and siblings refuse to even speak to him. My mother likes to refer to him as "that man" and has a hard time even saying his name. They know he is Nigerian, so they assume he plans to use me for a greencard.

My brother talked to him on the phone for a couple minutes several months ago and he said that my fiance sounded too smooth. My fiance comes from a very polite society. #######

My whole family refuses to speak to him until he comes here in person.

Nobody in my family has dated someone they met online-- so they feel that it is not possible to know someone that way. They seem to think I am marrying a complete stranger and am making a horrible mistake. :bonk:

For months they forbade me from even speaking his name.

So much of this comes from the fact that he is Nigerian and there seems to be a huge interest in slamming Nigerians in American culture right now. so frustrating. :bonk:

I have felt so lonely this past year and vj contains the only people that have been any support at all besides NNamdi of coarse.

My friends have not been support either.

He is arriving in one week so I guess my family will get to meet him and then hopefully they will except him in time.

I know the feeling. My situation is quite different from yours. My fiancee is yoruba and Im igbo and everyone was ok with my relationship except for my mom. But she eventually got over it. my thoughts to you is to focus more on your relationship with your SO and worry less about what other people say. Its not worth it. You will just develop hypertension for nothing.LOL. You and your SO know your hearts so I say remain in love and stay blessed. Who cares what people say.

All the best
