We're Having A Baby!!!

I traveled to HCMC the last week of january and spent the holiday with my fience. Our K-1 was approved on March 4th, during which time we found out that she is now pregnant. Of course, we are very excited about the baby, and very happy. Does anyone have any advice as to how we should handle this news as far as the petition is concerned, and what we should do to advise the consulate in HCMC of her condition?

Congrats on the blessing! So you mean to say that your petition was approved but not the K1 visa, correct? Your fiancee is yet to go for the medical and interview?

First, you have to inform the medical clinic conducting the health exams that she is pregnant and you would have to send her a notarized statement saying that you are fully aware of her pregnancy and that you are the father and you are willing to pursue the K1 visa application.

This will be very important as there may be certain medical procedures they require that may not be administered to pregnant women. Best, have your fiancee call the clinic and seek for advice on her condition.

First off, congratultions! Secondly, IF your fiance is going to get her vaccinations in her own country, she will not have some, due to her condition. You might want to check out the timelines to see how fast you're going to be processed through your Consulate. I would suggest the only thing you MIGHT want to be concerned about is her flying to the US when she's pregnant...how far she is along. I don't know how far along they'll allow pregnant women to fly. You'll also want to get married asap upon arrival so that she can be placed on your health insurance.

The Consulate might be able to "see" she's pregnant during the interview...if they can't, she could tell them. It won't impact at all on whether you get the visa or not though.

I don't know how far along they'll allow pregnant women to fly. You'll also want to get married asap upon arrival so that she can be placed on your health insurance.

Congratulations, if my memory serve me right. Should be before 6 months of pregnancy allow women to fly.
