Hi

I hade my n400 interview at district A which is in jurrisdition of my permanent home. we own a home in that district. And my parents live there. And i use it as my mailing address and i used my new address as my current adress on my n400.

My file was transfered from district A to B which is where i currently renting an apartment. (for oath may be).

Now i went to the district office B where i live. The officer told me they had to review my file again.

So when the district A sent the file to district B did they recomended for approval?

The officer also got suspecious about address. Now i did not inform DMV about my new address which ofcourse temporary.

If i inform now to DMV would they give me a big ticket since its been a over a year since we living here. And would it be a crime that can deprive me from my citienship?

Is this illegal to have two address?

please comment i am so much woried about it. I dont want to put my citizenship in jeopardy.

thanks everbody

Check your State statutes on how many days you have when you change addresses to change the address on your DL. DMV's do not issue tickets. They don't have the authority to enforce the laws. The only person that can issue you a citation is a police officer. Plus most police officer don;t want to waste their time citing people for bad addresses. Here in MN you have 30 days to do it. It's not a crime to have two addresses, however you need to inform the USICS of address change if you are moving. They need to know where all immigrants are at all times. They claim this is because if they need to send you documents and they have the right address for you. I personally think, that's how they can keep tabs on people. I did not change my address on my drivers license. I did not even inform the USCIS. I know shame on me. It did not come up during my interview.

I wouldnt stress out too much. Get your license changed to the new address .

Perhaps Captain Ewok should start a failure to section.

Failure to report to selective service, file taxes or filing an incorrect way, report misdemeanors or felonies, address changes, file I-751's, renewing an expired I-94, applying for a lost green card, not supplying all the requested evidence, but that doesn't even work, when they want even more than was is specified, the list goes on.

Thing is, nobody in these agencies leads you by the hand, as the sponsoring USC, neither my wife nor daughter knew about something as basic as filing taxes, they never had to do that in their country nor register for selective service. And in like manner, when I visit their county, they have to lead me by the hand, I know nothing of their laws.

So what does one say when you failed to comply with the USA laws? Good luck, maybe your IO won't notice? Should be up to the sponsoring USC to make sure all these laws are complied with. Guess all you can do is to put yourself at the mercy of the court, be honest, make amends, and hope for the best.

I don't know much about the detail.

But from USCIS viewpoint, they want to have something to verify your current address to check the jurisdiction.

If you can not provide it, they may not be able to proceed the further.

Changing the address with DMV will not take that long.

Normally they can update the address and issue new driver license from the window.

Usually Driver License is the primary ID to check your legal address information.

Also, you may need to provide other utility bills and others to prove your residential address.

Especially when you move during the process, USCIS may want to verify your new address for their jurisdiction issue,

and may need to verify whether you live there for more than 90 days or not.

The other thing you may need to be aware is whether you file for AR-11 to report the change of your address.

All non-US-citizen is required to report their change of the address within 10 days.

It may be trivial, but it may work against your good moral character because you are not following the rule.

But it may be over-statement, but it will be varied from USCIS officer to officer.
