Hi all,

I had a few Q's about the next step for me to ask before I proceeded:

1) I actually called USCIS last week and asked for the application to be expedited and they sent an email on friday telling me they'd call within 5 days...which is fine. I'm wondering if anyone else tried this path and what are the chances they approve it? I'm going through the Vermont Service Center.

2) I guess after reading what everyone writes, I'd go the CR-1 route...just was wondering what I need (I guess I know, but would like to be sure) and especially for my co-sponsor, who is a teacher in another state....does that make a difference too?

3) Are the timelines here updated on a continuous basis? Just wondering versus USCIS's...it seems they do it monthly...

4) What does DCF mean?

5) My husband and I were married in Turkey, but he has Syrian citizenship...I guess he'd have to go to Ankara for the interview? Do both of these embassies process visas and what not on a timely basis? Are they decent/nice/etc.?

Thanks!

K.

anyone? please? even a few Q's?

I was rejected today it seems by a letter that I received from USCIS to expedite my case :(:crying:

I know everyone wants to be with their loved ones, etc. but I really wished they'd have taken care to actually call me and talk to me so that I could explain why my situation is dire. Whatever....I'm getting the impression VSC isn't so nice. :(

- Expedites are rare. I am sorry you were denied.

2) I guess after reading what everyone writes, I'd go the CR-1 route...just was wondering what I need (I guess I know, but would like to be sure) and especially for my co-sponsor, who is a teacher in another state....does that make a difference too? - I think the CR-1 is the superior visa

3) Are the timelines here updated on a continuous basis? Just wondering versus USCIS's...it seems they do it monthly... - They seem to do it every 6 weeks or so now. Don't go by what USCIS processing times are, they seem to be a CYA estimate.

4) What does DCF mean? - Direct Consular Filing can be done if the US citizen is also a legal perminant resident of another country and has been for at least 6 months.

5) My husband and I were married in Turkey, but he has Syrian citizenship...I guess he'd have to go to Ankara for the interview? Do both of these embassies process visas and what not on a timely basis? Are they decent/nice/etc.? Sorry I don't know

Thanks!

K.

You also asked about the I-485. Is your husband in the US currently? Have you already filed the I-130?

thank you for your replies so far, and no he is not in the US. the i-130 was filed on february 4, 2009 and have not heard anything back yet besides the NOA1 i got in the mail. i just am very frustrated, i know i'm not any more special than anyone else waiting for their family members, but this is getting ridiculous.

I can answer some of the questions. You cannot DCF. The USC must live in the immigrant spouse's country of residence in order to DCF. His interview is determined by where he resides, regardless of his citizenship. They will notify you what embassy it has been sent to for interview.

You can see embassy reviews above. Click on "Reviews:Embassy/USCIS" on the menu. From what I've read, Turkey is not very nice. Don't expect a lot of sympathy from USCIS either. I don't know what your emergency is, but I think unless it's some kind of medical emergency (like you are on your death bed), they probably will not consider to expedite your case.

Chances of expedite is always less unless you have extreme medical emergency. Other possible shortcut is DCF (Direct Counselor Filing), if you meet the requirements.
