Did he somehow forget to set up talents after the last time they wiped them? Or did they somehow disappear on their own? That is very weird. If he's been tanking in Naxx you'd think CoS would be a walk in the park. Or the other possibility...is he dual specced and accidentally had his dps spec activated while trying to tank? I once did that and boy is it noticeable lol!!

You would think it would have been a walk in the park, it usually is! He has his talent points and the correct spec. Last night he came on, we have a naxx run Friday nights - and his computer crashed, so he didn't even get to investigage it further.

It crashed as in - he had to restore back to factory settings - he missed the run. Maybe it's corrupt files in the wow folder.

and  rob.

Ok, I had a really stupid experience last night in a heroic instance. I ran VH with a pug group. At the end, one of the drops was a pair of awesome epic tank legs (str stam def with a red socket which enabled me to finally fill my meta gem on my helm). Of course I wanted them badly (I am a pally tank and I was tanking at the time/i also dual specced for dps). Anyway, everyone else in the group wanted them as well and were polite enough to at least say they wanted them and one of them asked if it was ok to roll on them. Being the (overly at times) generous person I am, I said yea why not. I guess it's fair if we all roll (meanwhile wondering why the other pally who said she was holy/ret, and the hunter would want them). So I click greed...rolled a 3 and won them. I was like wth just happened? How did i get them when i saw someone else rolled a 94? Well, I scrolled back and saw that they passed and then did /roll. I felt like such a jerk! Why on earth would they do that when it's the same thing if we all just click greed? I was irritated beyond belief because first of all they should have just gone to me since I was the tank and they were tank legs...second of all it made me look like a ninja and I did NOT intend to ninja them. So I felt like I stole something that should have rightfully been mine anyway. I do agree that with dual speccing it's ok if agreed upon to allow ppl to greed roll on items for their secondary spec (I did that in Naxx once, but it was agreed that I'd be ONLY greeding on tank items...i was dps in there...and not switching back and forth)

What do you make of this situation? Nobody B1tched at me, but still I felt like #######. In retrospect I guess by "roll" they meant /roll and not greed. But I didn't understand that because when you greed you also roll.

3/9/11 date of NOA

I absolutely would have greeded on them - wouldn't have thought of /rolling for something if no one had passed yet or anything - you are right, that's just weird.

As for whether they should be rolling - I am assuming this is a pug - because that's all out of whack. Unless there is a ninja in the group, even in a pug - it's always main spec gear - no discussion. You are nice - I would have said no - main spec roll only (even if I wasn't the tank!)

Nah, don't feel bad...hard to establish what the loot rules are ina pug and how would you have known to pass then roll instead? unless no one can use them for their class, I agree with Rob and Mel's comments about the hunter rolling who couldn't even use them anyway.

If not one can use them, then everyone should roll and have a fair chance of getting them to sell or DE if they can - that's what we do for stuff no one can use

I always go with everyone can greed on something, but if it is something you can use, then roll need on it. Also, you only roll need on your current spec (no quick switching either :P). The only time that you would really go with a /roll instead of using the UI prompt to roll is if you had loot distribution set to either free for all or master looter. So, don't feel bad. If you were tanking the instance, then only you should really be able to even roll on tank gear.

thank you, I feel better now lol. I also remembered earlier in the instance one of them needed on something (which was fine cuz they really did and nobody objected). I really AM too frickin nice for my own good sometimes. I have to stop that. At least I didn't lose out this time.

I don't know what is better....... I won my staff of restraint in 25 man OS with a 100 roll over someone who had a 99. Or winning on some really good gloves in 25 man naxx with a 3 roll (3 other people rolled on it. Two rolled 1's and one rolled a 2).

Usually the rule is:

Main spec need = need roll

off Spec need = greed roll

no one needs = pass to DEer

No DEer = whole group greed

and I play a hunter, and I would have kicked that huntards ####. He's the one that gives the rest of the GOOD, KNOWLEDGEABLE hunters a bad freakin name.

Oh that's awesome! The fact that you experienced both of these situations is also remarkable. I can't decide which is better either.

Any warlocks here? I got a new helm last night and was replacing gems and couldn't pick which meta to fill. I had my option of 21 crit + 3% crit, or 25 spellpower and 2% int. I went with the crit because of my spec (0/41/30). Any thoughts?

My warlock is only level 30 - so I know nothing about this, however we need to bump up the number of posts in here so that picture at the top of this thread page will disappearrrrrrrrrrrr
