Yes, that is correct. Both people need to sign the 1040 form. You can ask hubby just to sign a blank copy of W-7 and 1040 form and send them to you. In the mean time you can prepare the taxes thinking that you already have the two signed form and the notarized copy of the passport then when you received the original you will only need to fillout those we the information that you already have.

About the addres, in your case will be the address in India.

Thanks!! I just sent PDFs of the W-7, I guess I should send blank 1040 forms as well :) Will do that now.

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive,and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

I'm waiting for a call back, so I can tell my wife where to sign, and drop the W-7 in the mail. Nothing like waiting till the last minute huh. Worst case I have to file as single and amend the return later.

Seren, I am sure yours will be next. The only reason mine was faster is cz we didn't need the first step of sending in the DS3032 since we have a lawyer. I believe u should be hearing something by tomorrow or Friday. I was banking on tomorrow and Friday at the latest and was pleasently surprised tonite and almost went to bed before checking my email. Just got off of the phone with the wife, got her to sign the W-7, and 2 copies of a blank 1040. Now I wonder if there will be any problem with the ITIN since I am going to be filing so close to the April 15th deadline. Talk about cutting things close :)

Quick hug and run before shutting down the computer....

Doesn't the spouse need to sign the tax return when filing MFJ? So the only way to do that is to send your SO the tax return to sign or get a power of attorney.

I didn't think it was ever going to end either :)

GEEZ can this thing get more complicated! Now I am thinking I should file single too and then amend it when hubby is here. It sure will save me a lot of headaches! But worried it might create an issue @ interview. Man, why does tax filing deadline have to be so intertwined with our approval/ impending interview date??!! :angry:

I ended up going to the park and walking a few laps. I really should have run but hey.... I'm not pushing it. I'm so stressed out. I will fedex that letter tomorrow at work. I have my own fedex account. Its all good.

WOW u've been very relaxed and quiet waiting for interview, :P Me I would have that in big prints on my siggy :lol: Still can't beleive how long it's been since u've seen Y!! Gotta give u kudos for that!

Yep, I put it back too. I need all the luck I can get these days. It worked last time.

I had my husband sign the W-7 when I was in CR and I had a copy of his passport certified. I wasn't sure how I was going to file. But I didn't need it afterall. The certified copy of the passport cost me $20. Freakin swindlers...

Jen, how did you file? Single?

HEAD of HOUSEHOLD. I have 3 kids and the interest from my mortgage. I never even needed the W-7.
