uk 'packet 3' question

hi all.

so today, jamie (UKC) and i (USC) had our very first 'squabble' on the subject of this whole visa process. i think it was mostly stress and self-imposed deadlines, but i felt bad because i could have probably prevented it by being more informed/organized. i am feeling slightly pissy because i am more informed about the details of the process than he is, even though he is the one who need to prep for the interview. (im also pissy because he doesnt make use of vj and therefore i have to learn all of these things and then tell him what i have learned. im sure that some of the fine details are lost in the translation.) i thought he was on top of returning 'packet 3' and this afternoon i call and he seems unsure as to what to send. we worked out what we are sending, but id love to have some reassurance that we havent missed anything major.

here is what he is sending tomorrow (16 march):

DS-230 part I [sending part I only. sending in duplicate, though i think that is unnecessary.]

DS-156 with color photo attached, in duplicate [one photo per copy is all that is required, right?]

DS-156k in duplicate

DS-157 in duplicate

checklist and IV-15 completed [i am confused about the difference between these, but i treat them as one 2-page document.]

letter requesting a late april interview for an early may entry [he did not want to 'queue jump' anyone else. i said that we are not asking for an early date, we are just trying to avoid a late date. we do have a date in mind that we would like, but we can work around whatever we get.]

i think that's it. and i keep telling him (and myself) that if there is anything missing, we can resend and it should not trip us up too much.

any comments would be sincerely appreciated.

I didn't include a photo with mine either. I don't remember the packet three instructions saying one was required.

I guess it couldn't hurt to throw one in there if you're unsure.

ugh. getting more and more confused. and i know this is all probably very simple. losing perspective is not helping me. <sigh>

That's exactly what I'm sending, although I've only got one DS-230-1 and no photos - I have read about people either sending them or the officer sticks them on at the interview - so I wouldn't worry. You sound good to go!!

You take the photos to the interview with you. If he has already sent them I don't think it will be a big deal, but I suggest taking 2 more to the interview in case they still ask for them. Also keep copies of all the forms sent as I know of one person who arrived at the interview to find they had lost them.

Photos: Normally people take them to the interview and they stick one on there. Nick sent when he mailed. Then he took more to the interview because he made his own photos so had a bunch. The short lady at window one took his photos then got all confused looking because there were photos already in the file. She mumbled something like "where did these come from?" then shoved the photos back to him.

I don't think it's going to hurt you one way or the other. I've read reviews of people who stuck them on before mailing and somebody complimented them for doing so, while most people take to the interview and are also fine.

Well, everything seems covered. I didn't send my photos personally, and I gave a passport-sized one at my medical. I've kept the other two for my interview.
