I Believe Someone May Attempt to Block the Visa

I know this is going to sound paranoid. I assure you, it is not. My fiancé and I have finished the hard part--our visa package is together, including cheque and will be going into the mail later today. Which means I finally have time to think.

There is a person who was formerly a part of my life who has seemingly made it their life-mission to destroy my life. They like to call or email various people and groups and leave "anonymous tips" that I am crazy or worse in order to make things awful for me and get me into trouble with various people with whom I am involved. I don't dare give more detail because this person WILL use this post against me should they find it. They like to block opportunities for me and stop my life from moving forward. I assure you that I have done NOTHING to deserve this treatment from this individual. I know you likely don't believe me, but let's just say that, when this person was last involved in my life, I was a child.

I know who this person is, but I have not had an exact address or phone number for them in many years, so I can't even 100% prove that it is this person who does this to the satisfaction of someone else. I am positive of who this individual is and have been dealing with this LITERALLY my entire adult life. In order to combat the problem, I've alerted those close to me about this person's actions and common "anonymous" aliases so that they know what is going on when the emails and phonecalls start up as they do once or twice every year or two.

Is there anything I can do to stop this person from destroying my visa bid, other than hoping that somehow this person won't manage to start their hjinks until it is too late? I'm wondering what this person could do to stop our visa application? Also, is there anything I could do or say in order to alert the USCIS or whomever in order to prevent this person from being able to stop the application? Without having the USCIS think there was reason for concern about our visa bid?

There are things you can do to help yourself when it comes to this person. I wont bother to post them here if he might be reading because that will just make him aware also. He is stalking you. If you can gather proof of his identity you can get a court order to make him stop. If you suspect he may cause trouble with you then make sure you have very good evidence and be prepared for a harder interview.

Good luck

i doubt anything can happen, USCIS, NVC, and DOS will only talk to a person with a specific case number so as long as that "secret" person doesn't have it then you should be fine... also at every agency they do background checks so even if that person makes false statement it wouldn't harm your case...

That's the problem. I can't gather proof of this person's identity that will satisfy other people. I know who it is because this person started before going anonymous to do so. This person only went anonymous because people stopped listening. *sigh* I guess my best option is to hope that this person won't make the attempt.

If this person does, however, what kind of evidence would help? I don't even know what this person might do. The "she's crazy" is easily enough combated--I already am getting a letter from a psych that proves my sanity because of a stupid mistake I made while in an abusive relationship a long time ago that resulted in my being hospitalized. But what else might this person do? I've never seen anyone with a problem like this before. To make it better, this person has ties to the American government, which makes me incredibly nervous.

I'm aware. It's not my fault that this is the reality of my life. I've dealt with this since I was 18 years old and I've never been in a position where I didn't know the appropriate way to say "Look, this is the deal." I've been trying to get on with my life for years and have done a pretty good job of it. I'm just concerned about how this person could affect this singular aspect.

I KNOW this sounds ridiculous. It's the kind of thing that happens in movies and stuff. But it's the reality of it. Unfortunately, the people who make movies and write books get their ideas from the reality of sick and deranged people like the person that does this to me. Please give me the benefit of the doubt. I have no way to prove this all to you. You are a stranger. I can't very well send the emails and so on to a stranger.

Just get on with your life or have the authority take care of it....

The authorities in my area do not wish to deal with cybercrimes, which this primarily is, as the only primary records I have are in the forms of emails. Unless I have "hard" evidence of this individual's identity, there is nothing that I can do, or so they tell me. Secondary records are apparently considered to be hearsay. So me going and reporting that a friend of mine has been getting phone calls does not matter and I have had difficulties getting the police to discuss the matter with my friends and colleagues.

I came looking for advice, so clearly I would listen to it if you gave me advice that made sense. If I was not moving on with my life, I would be cowering in my bedroom afraid to be involved in my community and afraid to get engaged in case this individual ruined it, would I not?

I came here concerned that in a SINGULAR aspect of my life, this person could have serious repercussions.

I will not bother anyone here with my problems again. Thank you.

If you've done nothing wrong, there is really nothing anyone can do to derail/destroy/delay your petition.

While no one here has maybe posted such a post as you before doesn't mean it hasn't happened. Are you the beneficiary or petitioner?

Your main concern right now appear to be how this person could jeopardize your petition with US government? That they might send letters, petitions, or give information to USCIS about yourself?

Maybe I'm naive, but I truly believe that if any information came to them, they'd check it out with you first and give you an opportunity to answer to that information. That would probably only occur if it was credible. That's my opinion anyway. I don't believe they would take anonymous information and stall and or deny your visa unless you couldn't answer the questions they were looking for.

How is this person going to know that you have filed for a K1 visa. Unless they are getting personal information from someone else they are not going to know. You say that this person has been doing this to you your entire adult life, so how are they getting information about you. You suggest that they are contacting your co-workers and friends, how do they know where you work and who you are friends with.

If this person is getting information about your from a family member or a friend who knows your personal info, then all you need to do is not put this information in the public/family eye.

Keep all your personal information to yourself. What they dont know cant hurt you.

what serious repercussions are you worried about? You say this person's 'harassment' is conducted via e-mail and telephone and aimed at discrediting you in front of friends/family. so what repercussions could he/she possibly have to your I-129F that you filed with USCIS?

Your petition, once filed and accepted by USCIS, will be assigned a unique case number, which is mailed to your address. Only you and USCIS will know this number, and any dealings regarding the case will be made based on referencing that number.

So I'm not sure how you believe this person can stop you from having your petition adjudicated fairly....or stop your fiancee from applying and interviewing for her visa. Just like your local authorities will not deal with the situation absent 'hard evidence' of a crime...USCIS will be hard pressed to deny your K-1 petition because of some 'anonymous' accusation against you...they also would require hard-evidence of ineligibility to deny your petition.

If you have met the eligibility requirements for your visa petition, you should just let USCIS do its job and adjudicate the petition....if they have questions, they'll contact you and ask you to provide further info. I know of no avenue in which you can alert them[uSCIS] that someone, somewhere may try to undermine you in some, as yet undetermined, way.

Good luck,

-P

I'm the beneficiary. The FBI can't really do anything for me as far as cybercrimes go as this happens outside of the US.

My concern is that the person might have some kind of government contact that would allow this person to get some kind of information regarding my case number or something of that nature. This individual recently returned to my home country after having worked for several years for the US government. I do not know which departments this person worked with.

I also am concerned that this person could launch some kind of complaint with the USCIS that I am simply doing this for the greencard or something of that nature. I have heard of a neighbour or something launching such a complaint while reading through this site, I believe. This kind of allegation, I believe, could have some serious repercussions--but I do not know. I have never seen an issue like this so I am asking what this person COULD do and if there is a way to combat it.

This individual has several methods of getting information about me, which include watching my friends' and former friends' facebooks and myspaces and this individual has hacked my livejournal on at least one occasion (as this individual openly called a family member about a locked journal entry that was made years and years ago. It should be noted that this was the first incident and I ceased using journals and blogs at that point). I do not know if this individual has ever hacked anything else, but I regularly change my passwords on my email and so on and I have asked that my friends do the same. I know that this person collects information through my younger brother, with whom this person has maintained a close relationship. I live in a very small community and, while I do not speak to my brother, anything that is said to anyone about anything spreads like wildfire and gets back to my brother. I have taken measures such as having friends remove all mention of me from their facebook and myspace and I have attempted to stop things from getting back to my brother by asking people not to speak to him of me and by refusing to talk to people about things, but that has proven futile as I recently discovered that one of my friends was passing information to my brother, not out of any malicious intent towards me, but simply because my brother expressed interest and this friend did not realize that my brother was one of the issues in information getting back to my "stalker." I have since ceased speaking of anything of consequence to this friend.

The person who has been doing this to me will take a grain of truth and spin it into a lie. A joke with a friend becomes an attempt to commit fraud in this person's world. A rant about wedding planning becomes proof that I suffer from delusions because of sarcastic comments within the rant. A short story I write that is a work of complete fiction (and labeled as such) becomes proof that I am spinning a series of lies about my life and I should be sedated and locked away.

I am concerned that this person could do damage to my visa application but do not know how. I believe that this person will attempt to do so.
