Hey Everyone,

How will we know when NVC gets our case? How will we know when it leaves? Is there a way to track it or do we just need to call the number? Also, when should you start calling? (one week, two weeks?)

Thanks!

wait about 1 or 2 weeks and then Call NVC, NVC will give you the new case number, then wait a few more days and call NVC again, they will let you know when they ship your petition, K-1 VISA is not in the automated system, so when you call, you will need to speak to a live person...

There's no 'rule' that you have to call NVC - your case will only be there a short time (2 weeks is typical but 2-4 weeks is possible) - it will usually take a couple of weeks for USCIS to send the approved petition. They (NVC) will notify you when your case has been forwarded to the Consulate/Embassy (who in turn will notify the beneficiary).

The reason for calling NVC is two fold (if you choose to).

1) Ensure USCIS did forward the case (it is rare they don't but for piece of mind).

2) To get the new (DOS) case number so you can move forward and prepare for the medical since this new number is required in order to do the medical.

Ok so now i am alittle confused, I just got my NOA2 yesterday(by email). Is this the last update i will get on the USCIS website? Do they not update for moving from NVC to emabasy?

No more updates on the USCIS web site since once approved and transferred to NVC your case is now with the DOS (Dept. of State). You are done with USCIS until you do AOS.

NVC doesn't have an online case status (that's why many people just call)..

Don't forget when you call NVC to select the button to speak to a person as K-1/I-129F are not on the automated system.
