I am so glad this thread has taken off (pun intended!) ..... YAY!!!

See, now I want to go get a crazy shape waxed, like maybe a lotus flower or something :) Can you imagine? LOL

Still not convinced that the waxing results are greater than the pain quotient, but I love reading everyone's experiences.

I think it also depends on your pain tolerance... if you have a low one, then it's not for you. I have a rather high tolerance, not sure why but I do. When I got a tattoo it really didn't hurt much, and I don't mind needles. That's why I think waxing doesn't bother me much, because the pain isn't so bad.

My tattoo didn't hurt that much either and I don't mind needles but I still think it would hurt! haha

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

Look at what you girls have done! LOL! Now I am seriously considering trying a bikini wax! I am not really sure what my pain tolerance is, i have been able to handle eyebrow waxing without too much flinching! I am so sick of using Nair and trimming the rest! and yes I am another person who uses the blowdryer on cool on a hot summer day...LOL!! I've got another 2 weeks before I visit him I guess that means i can only be lazy for another 2 weeks...damn!!

I'm getting my tattoo removed in a few weeks and I think thats supposed to hurt more than getting one. So if I can get through the laser treatments fine then perhaps I'll gather the courage to wax... I will end up doing it thanks to this thread. :P

I was going to also say that laser is the BEST way to get rid of hair. I'm sure you can't do it on the nether regions.. but for facial hair.. it has worked sooo well for me (chin area & mustache).. SUPER way to keep hair away for almost forever (until menopause).

:o You are!? Yowza! I heard that's alot of pain. If you can take that, you can take a little ol wax down below sistah!!

I wanted to try that, I just think it's expensive. Mind you, if you spend $50 on waxing every 6 weeks over 5 years that adds up too! A friend of mine had laser on the bikini area, just the bikini though they don't remove everything.

It is expensive, but I tried electrolisis before and it's in the long run cheaper.. and you are right.. waxing added up over years is really just as expensive.

I did get a wax pot and use that every month for my belly, and my *ahem girls... that I can handle and do myself..

If you want the basic, which is the American one, then I suppose that you could have one, and it would be a little tender and red for awhile, however for the other types, such as Brazilian, French, landing strip, or other such types, I say...WHY???

Total genital hair removal to me is totally wrong. There is a reason why your hair is there, for hygenic reasons.

Hygenic reasons? Are you sure? I always figured that hair was there to keep you warm. What parts of your body lose heat the most? Your head. Your armpits, and your crotch.

Living in the hot humid south, I find that any excess body hair just adds to the summertime sweating. The less sweating down there, the nicer (and cleaner) I tend to be.

(I'm male in case anybody is wondering). Men and women seem to have different pain receptors. Women complain about waxing whereas I don't think it would be that bad. After all I have used a biore nasal strip on my nose in the past. On the other hand, I look at women pulling out facial hair with a tweezer and just cringe at the mere thought of it.

I think I can safely say that periods are overblown. I ate beets for dinner a few nights ago. So I know what you ladies go through. But that's a completely different topic. :P

BTW, what is the French wax?

I'm a shaver. Always have been. I'm not patient enough to let my hair grow out long enough to be waxed.

People say the hair is there for a reason, but I have yet to find the reason! I just find it gets in the way and is uncomfortable!

 I don't think a biore nose strip is comparable to being waxed, sorry

Because I really don't like tattooes... it was one of those "when I was 17" things.

I had lots of peircings and only have the holes to show those now, I can cover them up easier, but the tattoo I can't. In the summer I cover it up with a bandaid.

You can totally get laser down there... I don't know if I ever would though. I heard laser is more painful than waxing.

I wax my own upper lip.

You know what my son said the other day??? In the most non chalant way he said: "Oh you're growing a moustache?"

#######! Gee thanks Ethan, no it's called upper lip hair!

I don't get tons of it but its there. The fact that my son mentioned it though makes me want to regularly wax it. :P
