I just clicked the Berkely link in Mari Joe's sig and I'm 48 on Igor's list!! Gosh, I remember when I was in the 200's....

I too called USCIS this morning (*hangs head in shame). I got through to a USCIS officer and got the same thing as before. It could possibly take up to 60 days to get a determination after the RFE but she did say that it usually doesn't take that long. When I asked her why it keeps being updated she didn't know. She had no way to communicate anything to anyone and would not issue a service request because of that freakin 60 days that has been added to my case due to RFE.

So.....I'm sitting here and waiting. I sure hope some of ya'll get approved, that always makes me feel better! I am hatin on April today though (sorry April filers).

Missy, were you talking to the first-level CSR, or did you escalate to an actual USCIS officer?

hmmmm, well... I would show them the link on their own website that has the 5 month processing time line and the SCOPS press release dated August 6th with the NEW guidelines that say you CAN and HAVE TO do it the NEW WAY... which is to get a service request started... I have to go to a meeting and dont have the time to find the links and post them... but you can find them...

Call back.. talk to a different USCIS officer... My understanding is if you ask to speak to one.. they HAVE to connect you... try another rep...

Missy, were you talking to the first-level CSR, or did you escalate to an actual USCIS officer?

Escalated. I had to go through the 20 questions that they ask before they transfer you and then the first guy wanted to know where I lived, my accent was so cute..... He was setting me up for the USCIS emotional smack down that he knew was coming.

The USCIS officer I talked to was very nice, even when I got all emotional on her. I am stuck in RFE hell and I need to be patient and to just get over it and stop obsessing about it. My problem is I know that it's sitting on someone's desk and it would be such a small and simple thing to go ahead and clear it out. They have already looked at it once, found it lacked one document, sent the request, I responded, it's back on the desk.....just 5 minutes and I'm done. Is that unreasonable?? Sorry, rant over. I need drugs, counseling and the internet to go out so I can stop checking on this every 2 minutes!! (please, don't let the internet go down!!)

And to clarify, I'm not hatin the April filers.....just hatin on the month of April in general. They are moving WAY faster than anything I've seen, even when I cyberstalk the California Service Center!

:(

Not hatin on you, just hatin my situation. I still love you and Tygrys and the rest of youse guys.

I had no problem getting to a USCIS officer whatsoever. All I had to do was ask to speak directly to an officer.

Here is the link to the new procedure here is in in PDF format. When I did speak to the CSR, I did make her repeat her name and ID number...

I would not take NO for an answer when it came to getting to an officer... but that is just my opinion

USCIS Update: Case Status Inquiries with the Service Centers

WASHINGTON - U. S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has issued instructions on making inquiries with the agency's four Service Centers. Customers, community-based organizations and liaison groups should follow this guidance when inquiring about case related issues. This new process standardizes customer service and streamlines processing of customer inquiries at USCIS Service Centers. The step-by-step instructions are as follows:

Step 1: Contact the National Customer Service Center (NCSC) at 1-800-375-5283. The NCSC can assist customers, community-based organizations and liaison groups with case related inquiries. Before calling the NCSC please have available your receipt number, alien registration number, type of application filed and date filed. During your call we recommend that you take note of the following information:

-The name and/or id number of the NCSC representative

-The date and time of the call

-Any service request referral number, if a service referral on a pending case is taken

Step 2: If more than 30 days have passed since you contacted the NCSC and the issue has not been resolved or explained you can email the proper USCIS Service Center to check the status of your case.

-California Service Center: csc-ncsc-followup@dhs.gov

-Vermont Service Center: vsc.ncscfollowup@dhs.gov

-Nebraska Service Center: ncscfollowup.nsc@dhs.gov

-Texas Service Center: tsc.ncscfollowup@dhs.gov

Please note: Emails should be sent to the Service Center that has jurisdiction over your case. The receipt notice will indicate EAC for the Vermont Service Center, SRC for the Texas Service Center, LIN for the Nebraska Service Center, and WAC for the California Service Center.

When contacting the Service Centers by email you will need to provide the information outlined in Step 1. If the NCSC did not issue a service request after your call, please indicate the reason the NCSC representative did not issue the request.

Step 3: In the event you do not receive a response within 21 days of contacting the appropriate Service Center, you may email the USCIS Headquarters Office of Service Center Operations by email at: SCOPSSCATA@dhs.gov. You will receive a response from this email address within ten days.

For more information on USCIS and its programs, please visit our homepage.

I just got off the phone with NCSC.

After going through the Tier I CSR's twenty questions, I gave her my receipt number and she rattled off the worthless info from CRIS. I thanked her, told her that my status in CRIS hadn't been updated since April 1, and politely asked to be connected to an IO. She went through the pro forma dissuasion attempt, noting that it's currently one day shy of 5 months. I thanked her again and reiterated my request to be transferred to an IO, with which she complied.

When the IO answered (in an unidentifiable, slightly difficult to understand accent), she asked for more information on me - name, address, DOB, etc. She looked me up in her system and said the case was still showing as pending. I asked if she could tell me if the file was actually on the floor or sitting on a shelf somewhere, and she said it was assigned to an adjudicator. She brought up the nonsense about March 5, to which I responded that most of the recent approvals have been April filers. She said "your approval could come any time, please give us one or two more weeks." I thanked her for her help, noting that it couldn't be easy taking complaints from upset people all day.

They're not getting one or two weeks. The letter to my congressman's immigration caseworker (who is already familiar with my case from my fruitless attempt to get transferred to CSC) gets faxed around 4 pm tomorrow, with a follow-up call first thing Friday morning. I'm making it clear that I want a detailed status report on the case (either it's awaiting a background check or it's just sitting on a shelf or in someone's pile); if there's no outstanding information, I expect the petition to be pulled and worked immediately.
