When we were making our file, and by we, I mean Mel. She wouldn't even let me near it for fear that I had mustard or something on my fingers. She thought of every conceivable paranoid scenario in which either they lost the file, or I destroyed it. So she made 3 extra copies.

Did you talk to someone at the consulate about it?

That sounds like me, I guarded that file with my life. And when I received the Visa with the special envelope not to be opened, I was sooo paranoid about where to keep it and checked the cabinet where I put it daily for 4 months.

Beans, THAT SUCKS!! I'd be so mad too, but let's hope this is a short delay and they can fix the problem fast.

I was told that I had to put my personal extra copy in a freezer bag. It took some searching to find one big enough. You should have seen the list of directions that she sent me when she finished compiling it and sent it to me to sign each page, and to submit it. In all fairness, I do tend to be messy with my meals

They gave us the number to the Sydney consulate but we're too afraid to get too many people involved in the way that one hand won't know what the other one is doing. So we're going to call NVC again on either Friday or Monday and see where they're at.

I-751 file: 11/07/11

NOA1 date: 11/10/11

Biometrics: 11/30/11

Approval: 08/17/12

Hold what you got and maintain.

At the NVC they probably put all the files into piles and then separate them into the DHL envelope bags and I bet the Vancouver files were piled beside the Sydney files.

I don't think you should worry. I'm sure the Sydney office will just ship it back to the NVC and then the NVC will send it to Vancouver OR Sydney will send it straight to Vancouver.

I doubt it has anything to do with the file itself and the city listed on it.

I guess this fits in the vent thread... doesn't feel like it warrants its own. lol

I'm feeling totally overwhelmed at the moment. Part of it IS in relation to this stupid visa paperwork and what not, but a lot of it is everything else in life piling on top. If I start trying to explain why it'll just end up being a huge rant, and one of those 'listen to all my probleeems' things, which I'm sure would be fine to do, and probably something that would help me, but doesn't really need to be spilled out here....

So I guess, instead, I offer a little pick me up for those of us who feel down...

Why do some people think that getting answers directly and constantly and very repeatedly from another person instead of finding information out on his/her own is better. I mean, I know I ask a lot of questions... but at least I ask them in the forum and don't bug anyone constantly in PMs. Oyyy....

Apparently some people feel it's easier to ask questions rather than search on their own. I don't understand that. Looking at the situation in a purely self-serving manner, it's far quicker to do your own research. I could look something up on Google (or wherever) within minutes instead of relying on someone else to post or e-mail back at some future date.

So I need to get this off my chest.. a good friend of mine (like was a best friend when I was living back in Canada), met this guy after I left Canada.. (I've never met him although I've been home since she's been dating the guy)..

Anyway, he's not yet divorced.. when she met him he'd just left his wife, and it was messy.. really messy.. his wife has a boyfriend, and their divorce appears mutual, but at the same time it's just messy.. I'm happy she feels she's found the one that she has been looking for, of course, but there are just some red flags for me about the entire situation.

Anyway, it's a long story and probably wouldn't make sense to a lot of people but for a whole load of reasons I'm really concerned about the relationship.. just think it's a dangerous way to start a life together.. after a crisis in his life he moves in with her, now they are planning to get married in 2010 when the divorce is finalized..

I've voiced some concerns, not a lot, just expressed concerns, and I've as a result got systematically cut out of her life.

Last weekend she went to Ottawa pick out her wedding dress with a different friend altogether.. the girl was someone who she used to complain about ALL the time with me, not someone I would have thought she'd select to go pick out the wedding dress.. I'm just kinda left out in the cold.. and in the pics from the weekend there are all these references to her being her "best friend"..

Wounding.. big time.. *sigh..

Ah, E, the hurt of what is supposed to be a good friend.

I'm having similiar troubles at the moment. I had a really good friend here in NJ who was more like family then friend. We used to live in the same town and hang out on the weekends.

Then he got a girlfriend, one he had dated before, and I've hardly seem him since. He makes plans with me and either doesn't call me before we are supposed to meet or doesn't show up. He has known my husband since he was 1, too, so it makes it even worse.

He texted me yesterday, on my birthday, complaining about how he was at a dave mathews band concert with sara he didn't want to be at after he jilted my on Friday when he was supposed to come with me to see my brother.

He didn't even realize it was my birthday.

I decided I'm not even going to acknowledge him at this point. It's not worth talking about because he doesn't like talking about anything below surface level so I'm just going to let it roll off my back.

So I know how you feel E. It sucks.

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

I need to file for an extension for my US taxes and I don't know what form to download. I was so sure it was the 1040 X, but that apparently is for an amended return. Grrrr.

Second tax-related rant: it is so flippin complicated and takes so much of my time, I really should be paid for preparing my own return!

Oh well. I get my hair dyed tonight and then go home to watch the Blues in the playoffs, so if the IRS does not nail me (most likely I will get a refund; I'm just not certain enough of that to blow off the deadline), all will be right in my world by this evening.
