I was out most of yesterday running errands and also spent time completing my NVC package. SO MUCH PAPERWORK!

I now have everything in order....just waiting for NVC to assign a case number so we can get going at NVC.

Sarita, The wait for NVC is like torture. I can't wait till the K3 leaves for embassy. I am so nervous and haven't been able to sleep well!!

And Jen, yeah the approval is bittersweet cz our fate is still up in the air basically till interview day I have had this nervous feeling like a weight on my chest that's not gonna be lifted till my husband calls me and says VISA IN HAND....GEEZZZZ am I gonna stay this way for another 2 mons or potentially more depending of how much longer the journey ahead will last?? Does anyone else feel this nervous?? Is this normal? I guess after waiting for approval for 230 days it makes it even harder the closer we get to the final moments.

All we can do right now is

Everyone else, hope soon we can breathe the complete sigh of relief when this is all over and we are finally reunited with our spouses!

just understand that when you go for your interview you WILL get approved. We won't be so lucky. If , by the grace of God, they approve us on the interview date.... I will probably fall into a coma. I won't be able to breathe... more than likely, all of you will be at the VJ reunion together and I will still be flying back and forth to CR while we are waiting for the waiver approval.

and that could take another year !

The NVC thing will be over before you have time to even think about it. Just get everything ready. Don't be like me. I had to wait on the lawyer to finish everything and then it took a few days to mail to my husband even with express mail. Make sure you have: DS 156, DS 156 K (in case they ask for it), the I-134 (and also I-864, my lawyer says sometimes they ask for it even for the K3) and the DS 230. Get them all filled out. Lots of detailed info you may now know and have to get from your husband. For example, I had to get every single date that he's been in the US (ever). So he had to pull out his passport and old passport and look at the stamps to remember the exact dates. Also, you will need ORIGINAL birth, marriage, and divorce certificates with certified translation to English. Also your tax returns for 3 years (recommended 3 years), if you're close to cut off you might want to get your check stubs and an employment letter...if you have co-sponsors, get with them from now...you're gonna need their tax returns, etc. Also, they need passport bio page photocopies...and then all the proofs. If you get all this finished and sent to your spouse before hand, then when they get the letter from the consulate, they can send everytihng into the consulate immediately and you'll get your interview date sooner.

Of course, if you're going the I-130 route, then you'll have to wait at NVC longer regardless.

Jenn, don't worry...there's a big chance that our petition will get stuck in AP. I might be waiting another year with you also Let's not get sad about it or freak out about it until the time comes.

NVC does go by fast, if you have all the papers ready. I was delayed almost 2 weeks, because my wife wasn't able to get her Passport PCC, due to beuracratic nonesense at the Ahmedabad passport office in India.

Not too bad, as long as your lawyer is responsive for the CR-1. For the K-3, that is all on your husband to get everything setup for the interview.

yes, my husband is going to pick up the packet 3 when they call him and he will set up the interview then. The attorney is doing the waivers so I can take them with me.

Yeah, but stay on their ####...because they can take forever "reviewing" it...also, you're going to have to give them all the info anyway...they will probably ask you to sit with them to fill it out. I actually made my appointment before we even got the approval, because I didn't want any delays.

Jenn you're going to have to send him all that stuff, the originals. Also the applications and stuff have to be filled out and sent to him. The consulate will only send him instructions (which will say all the above things I mentioned are needed - send it to us, once consulate recieves it, they will give him an interview date).

We're trying to handle both the K-3 and the CR1 at the same time since my husband refuses to give up the K-3 thing. I told him just to ignore it but he had already gathered some of the stuff together so I made up a quick I-134 for him and sent it (plus the DS-230, DS157, DS-156 etc). It just seems to be more work but now he feels involved in the visa process.

Good morning everyone

How are you this lazy Sunday? Still sleeping I hope! I haven't been this tired since I was in university, coming into work at the hospital without ever even getting to sleep Had a hard time sleeping last night and we lost an hour...and to add insult to injury, I forgot to disable my 5:45am alarm and so I woke up at 5:45am instead of 6:30am.

Well I'm told that the census is really low. I hope it's dead today like it was last Sunday.

Lisa, did you see the Burn Notice season finale? What the hell happened? I was watching last night and then got online during the commercial break and ended up chatting and missed the ending! Oh and PS- I'm already irritated with dumb nurses for the day...I feel your pain from the other day (No offence to anyone that might be a nurse).

We were married in Bombay as a result our K3 will go to Mumbai Consulate.

When we filed for K3 the wait time for IR1 interview in Montreal Canada was over 6 months....these days it's about 90 days....so we have decided to just deal with IR1 right now.

In hindsight we should have just stuck to the IR1....we would have been aproved much sooner

I hate this new time change ...grrrrrrr It's 12:15 when it's really 11:15...booooooo Time to go to bed.

But one more thing, I think Karma stars are still in order for all of us since we are still a couple of /few mons. away from our final destination ..so here goes some 4 a speedy NVC express all the way to consulate---> interview ---->visa in hand--> big huggggggg/reunion with our spouses--->and finally some back into our lives

The only way to get the packet 3 is to pick it up. Costa Rica does not have a mail system.

They will call him when the papers are ready. He just has to make an informal appt to go pick them up and then when he is there he can make the interview appt. He will have to haul A$$ to get his exam and police report. We'll see how fast he moves. If he has a set date for the interview, that may motivate him. Costa Ricans are very laid back people... I will not nag him because he will tell me I sound like his grandmother..... LOL I told him to get his vaccination records from his mother.... I can't bet you he forgot to ask her.
