Attorney - Recommendation....where do I find one?

Hi......does anyone have any recomendations on how to find a good attorney for filing marriage based I-130 and accompanying forms? I hate the idea of looking online and searching through hundreds of immigration attorney's and just picking the luck of the draw. Of course nobody wants to be stuck with an attorney that you hope will do a good job, only to find out the attorney is not what you expected or takes forever to respond to questions or file paperwork (such as many stories that I've heard). I live in the Atlanta area (about 25 miles north of Atlanta - Lawrenceville/Duluth). If anyone has an attorney they are particularly happy with in this area and are willing to give their name & number, it would be much appreciated OR even a link of attorney's where clients share good experiences or advice on how to find a good attorney.

If you feel more comfortable emailing me directly, my email is tevs@bellsouth.net

Thanks so much!

This forum (AOS from family based visas) has to do with a person in the USA adjusting status from a K-Visa.

You are asking about filing an I-130 for a visa, moving this to (CR-1 /IR-1) forum.

If you do a search of this site you will find MANY, MANY threads of people having negative experiences with lawyers, and wishing they found VJ before hireing a lawyer.

VJ for the most part is a DIY website, if you use the guides you can file the petition without any problems. A lawyer is useful if there is something complicated in your or your spouses past.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

I highly reccomend that you do not use a lawyer unless you have money to blow and time to waste. He delayed our process and gave very little attention to the errors of his ways.

You really only need a lawyer if there is a problem with yoru case.

Visa journey has tons of great advice on how to expidite the process.

Thank you for your replies. I know most people are saying do it yourself and don't hire an attorney (which I of course love this option) but I guess the main reason I wanted to hire an attorney is that I assumed the case is more "complicated" because it is not a K1 visa or a visa that we applied for first, we married during a visit while he was here through visa waiver (unplanned) and then I have read on here and other sites that this could be viewed as fraud if they thought we planned this, which we absolutely did not. That is the reason I thought the case was more complicated and therefore should hire an attorney. Do you still think I should do this myself and not get an attorney?

Thanks for your replies!

Sound like there is slight concern a lawyer will assist in easing that concern. I do believe that having a lawyer dot your "i's" and cross your "t's" is helpful in the process, but they do not give the same attentiveness you would give a respond to the next step in a timely fashion.

If the funding is available and your concern outweighs the lack of money, interview several lawyers to get a feel of who best fits with you and your situation.
