When I went for my K-1 interview, they asked me my sealed evelope with my medical information and did not gave me any copy neither gave it back to me. I was working on my AOS and I saw they are requesting that sealed envelope for the medical form part. Did anybody on a k1 visa had an interview in Montreal and had this issue? What should I do?

I didnt do K1, so I may be incorrect. I recall reading that many K1'ers ask their doctor at the physical for TWO copies, 1 for the interview in Mtl (or vancouver) then the 2nd copy for AOS, thus it saves them from haveing to fork out more $$$ for another physical!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Yep, that's what I did. Some one posted a while back about needing it for AOS also and if you didn't have a copy you'd need to get it redone or something along those lines so when I went for my medical I asked the doctor for a copy of it. He just photo copied it all and put it in a sealed envelope like the original and wrote copy on it. He didn't charge me anything for it which impressed me.

Bleh.

I find parts of this whole process kind of silly. Why can't everyone just forward everything along instead of making us get zillion copies of everything?

* * *

On this note...

Anyone know if we can request an additional copy of our medical report from the medical place (Dr Seiden in Toronto, to be specific...) before we take off for the U.S.? If so, how much would it cost?

Me again...

Ok, I'm confused, even after reading http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...owtopic=307&st=

Do we need a copy of what's INSIDE the sealed envelope, or a copy of the vaccinations checklist (which is OUTSIDE of the sealed envelope)? If so, I've made a photocopy of that since it's not in the envelope... will that suffice for AOS?

Not sure on getting a copy from the doctor. But it couldn't hurt to call them. I explained it to the doctor while I was there. And he sent me the original and the copy at the same time. My son had his medical at the same time and because he is only 2 he didn't need the blood or x-ray done so he gave me both of them for him the day of the medical. I didn't get a vaccine record so I'm assuming it is in the copy envelope. I wasn't sure exactly what was needed so I got him to make a complete copy of it all and seal it in a second envelope. Hope this helps. But I have my original vaccine record from when I was born with all mine recorded on there and the doctor recorded the ones he gave me on it also so maybe he meant that to be the record for me.

I am just about to move to the US, so AOS process is just around the corner. I asked the dr. for the copies of all results, and he gave them to me, but it is not in a sealed envelope. Is that going to be a problem?

Thanks

I am hoping I can shed some light here.

The sealed envelope is what gets turned in at Montreal. Your copy, should you get one, can be in whatever sort of envelope.

The rules of AOS are if your medical is less than 1 yr old at the time of your interview, then you don't need another one.

Having said that, there are still people who get RFE'd for a medical even if it's still valid.

The vaccination sypplement is a DEFINITE need to have a copy. Once you arrive in the US, you will need to send a completed "vaccination supplement" with your AOS as I am sure you have all read. This is where it gets grey. Some people send in a copy of theirs from their home country, some send in nothing, and some/most go to a civil surgeon in their area (in the US) and get a vaccination supplement completed.

So, you take your copy from Canada that you got, go find a Dr here that does the supplement, and get it transferred to the "US Immigration" one. Why they do this, I don't know. Probably so their vaccination supplements all look 1 way instead of a billion different ways from different countries.

Myself, I got a copy of my vaccination supplement, but not the medical. I took that vaccination supplement, found a civil surgeon here, paid $60 and voila, a new USA vaccination supplement. I also got a copy of this supplement too! So, now I have my old one from Canada and my new one from the US.

My AOS interview is end of July, so my medical will still be valid.

Did I help? If you can get a copy of your medical I say go for it, but it's imperative you have a copy of your vaccination supplement. Get it.

I did basically the same thing as canucker 18 - and received my AOS without any RFEs at all.

If you don't have the copy of the vaccination supplement from your medical, you can take all of your original immunization records to the Civil Sugeon in the US, and they can take the information they need from that as well. It is what the doctor in Canada used to create the vaccination worksheet to begin with. You can shop around and find which civil surgeon in your area has the 'best' price since it seems to vary from $10 to $100 - they seem to set their own rates. I paid $50.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Thanks for posting this. I will now tell Darcy when he gets his medical to get an extra copy. I guess I haven't looked far enough ahead to realize he would need a copy for AOS. We need to get through this other mess first.

Thanks again!
