Seems like I read if the I-130 gets approved first (or concurrent in my case) you should abandon the K3 route and pursue the IR1/CR1 route. Both were approved on exactly the same day. What EXACTLY do I do now? This forum is so incredibly useful to all of us starved for information. Thanks to all that participate.

Decide which route you would like to follow the CR-1 or the K-3. Read the K-3 guides posted in the guides section up on top of the home page, or read the LingChe shortcuts to NVC posted in the VJ Wiki. If your case is straightforward, and its only your SO that is coming to the states, then you should probably go the CR-1 route, since its less expesive and you will have your greencard quicker.

Good Luck!!

I have the same situation. My wife and stepdaughter already have appointments for their medical for I129f. I called to see how long it would take if I used I130 instead and she said it could be weeks or months. It depends on if you wants to wait a little longer for your family to get here. The I130 is better but the I129f is faster.

If you never file an I-129F at all, the I-130 will be approved earlier. When both petitions are approved, you may simply press forward with the visa path you choose and ignore the one you don't want. If you ignore them both, the K3 is the only one that will proceed to the Consulate without your input.
