I have a question regarding poverty guidelines. I made last year $32,000 but some money came from unemployment and a pension. It was like $12,000. Otherwise I would make like $17,600 and put me below porverty guideline. I owe the IRS like $1500. Is a problem with this????

Yes, I will make over $30,000 this year. Do you know it will affect me if I do not have enough money in the bank. I think I have like $2000

Without knowing how many people are/would-be in your household - it sounds like your current earnings would be enough (or more than enough) - So it should not be an issue.

Last year you made "X" and now are earning "Y." No problem (you just need as many pay stubs as you can to prove your current earnings).

(Owing the IRS does not affect you in this process.)

All income reported on the 1040 counts. Income NOT reported on the 1040 (such as child support, workman's comp, non-taxable dividends such as gov't bonds) also counts if you verify it and have documentation (ie. court order for child support and check stubs) All income counts if it is verfied/supported. Unemployment counts, but there has been some discussion if unemployment would be accepted as the sole source of income, not likely, I believe. But if you are employed now and no longer on unemployment, then yes, it definitely counts.

I would like to say that an IRS debt, IF you have an agreed payment arrangement does not count against you, and in most cases it would not, but there was just a case on VJ where a visa was held up for clarification of an IRS debt (read "denied in Bangkok" thread). Typically they would not even be aware there is an agreement to pay a tax debt and the evidence of support does not review credit history or debts owed.
