Experience with other names used

Does anybody here have any experience with his/her name in passport and in his/her previous visa (K1,K3,F1,B1, etc) were different?

Please share your experience on what you do when filing I-751 with this different names

I am confused with your question. I female on a K-1 will enter the US in her maiden name and get married, usually taking her spouses last name. Then her passport will have her maiden name and the other documents she obtains after marriage in the US will have her married name. A male on a K-1, I would think would keep his last name when he got married. A k-3 is married in a foreign country and then comes to the US. The others I am not sure of. What am I not understanding about your question? \

I'm sorry if I confused you. This is my situation: lets say the full name on my passport, DL, bank account, etc is John Doe. However, my name on my F1 visa was written as FNU John instead of John Doe (due to US embassy mistake). When I filed for AOS (on all forms), my attorney wrote "FNU John" in "other names used" section because he said that was written on my F1 visa.

For I-751 application I plan to do it myself because attorney's fee is too expensive. When I looked at I-751 form online, there is a question again about "other names used (including maiden name)." Thus, I was wondering if I need to write "FNU John" in "other names used (including maiden name)" section <the same as what my attorney put for my AOS>?

I would probably go ahead and do the same as you did for your AOS which is to list "FNU John" under "other names used"...

Why didn't you have them correct your name on your F1 visa when it was issued?

I didn't realize it that it was wrong. The first time I noticed about the mistake was when my attorney told me about that.

Thanks for the explanation. I would put my real name on the form and put the mistaken name in other names used. I would also put an * by it and put a note with your cover letter explaining that it was a mistake and you did not catch it at first. Tell them it is not your real name. Hopefully, someone will read it and make sure your real name is put on the GC. It should be your real name anyhow because that is what you would put in the Name block. Good luck.
