We have been waiting for an interview date since 08 Aug 06. This hurry up and wait thing is getting real old… real FAST! If I am not mistaken, the interview dates are not set further than 90 days out. I'm going to double check that, but in the mean time... Is this true?

Also, I keep getting conflicting information concerning when our interview date will be issued. The Department of State rep said that interview dates for Nov are eminent and to call back every week. However, the Manila Embassy staff, who at first told me that we will be issued an interview date sometime within the last week of August and the first week of Sept, have now told me that they anticipate interview dates for November will be set by the end of this month. Has anyone waiting for an interview date heard anything different?

My fiancée and I simply want to have a date to work against… How hard is it to issue a freakin’ interview date!!!

I called Manila Embassy this morning ( Manila time) and was told the same thing. I was told that the "supposedly" schedule that would be out 1st week of September is not available yet. The lady told me to call before end of this month to follow up. She also told me that October has been booked up so the next people in line will most likely get a November or December schedule. Oh well, I won't bend on my predictions for a November 8th interview, . I have a crystal ball like the Manila Embassy folks! Oh well, who am i fooling? :P

Hey Yna, hang in there. Just believe that you & Ethan will be together this Christmas, if not Thanksgiving.

Take care!

With so many IMBRA prisoners being released, it's NVC's turn to be choked with backlog. Expect some spill-over at embassy level. I suppose that's the reason why the 90-day wait time to interview date is back at 120 days. Uling, you may want to set a tentative "working date" of between Nov. 15 ~ Dec. 15. That should at least give you some degree of control.

Can someone help with problem?

We got approved for k1 on 9/7/2006 and are waiting interview date and from what i see from other peoples timelines we will probably get a nov interview date.

Here comes the problem, my fiancee is due to have our baby on dec 28, and as of nov 1st she wont be able to fly.

Also on the NOA2 Reciept it says it expires on 1/7/2007

Do we stand a chance for expedite of interview? And if not is it possible to get them to postpone the interview until like february or so that way she will have 1 month to recuperate and for the baby to get strong before they travel?

It would be really nice if she can be here before the baby is born but i realise it is cutting things close being that we still dont have a date for interview yet.

Based on my experience......you dont have much chance for expedite unless there is a documented extreme financial hardship or life threatening emergency. It will cost about $3000USDfor a C-section in Manila, so it is unlikely you meet the extreme financial hardship criteria and, God willing, Mommy and Baby are not in a life threatening condition. You cannot file for the baby's CRBA until you get the Baby's Birth Cert on NSO SECURITY PAPER. Our baby was born in Manila near the NSO office and the Hospital Staff was a big help in getting the NSO on SECPA within 14 days. Once you file the CRBA via FEDEX, you can call ACS at the USE (between 2pm and 4pm manila time) about 2 weeks after the Baby's born to get a CRBA interview date. The USE ACS CRBA Processor was booked up about 2 weeks out from my phone call. After the CRBA interview date it will take about 10 working days to get the US Passport from Washington DC. No expedite is availale for delivery of US passport to an overseas address. You then need to get a clearance stamp from PI immigration on the baby's US passport which could take about 3 working days. So from the date the Baby's born to receipt of the US passport and PI exit clearance takes about 73 days IF everything goes smoothly in the US and PI governmnet bureacracies. This may help you decide when you want to schedule your fiancee interview date. You may decide it is best to keep your original date. Remember it may take 5 working days after the fiancee interview for the receipt of the Fiancee visa. Be sure you make their plane ticket reservation over the phone, vice online, so you can request a bassinet on the bulk head of the plane, unless you want to pay for an extra seat and you have the correct car seat for the plane seat. I dont think you want to hold the baby for the entire 14 hour or so flight to the USA. Best Wishes.

i feel your pain uling.... right now theres too much pressure. i dont have an answer to give and my our lives just seems to be on hold ... sigh... i guess most people feel this way. i just dont know how to deal with depression that isnt mine....

This is recycled and many have seen this before, but it helps me survive the wait. Hang in there. I am somewhere in Stage 7 and based on the timeline for the Embassy interviews, will be for 1 more month..................

Us westerners tend to go through several rather predictable stages in the K1 process. Please allow me to illustrate a few of the most common stages, using as an example a hypothetical fella named “Brad”: Brad is, for the purposes of this exercise, an American, recently engaged to a Filipina named “Hope”.

Stage 1: “Unfounded Optimism”. At this early stage, Brad presumes that bringing Hope to America requires little more than buying her a plane ticket. Well, he suspects there might be a form or two to fill out at the airport, but that shouldn’t result in a very significant delay. They should be together in a week, he thinks.

Stage 2: “Reality Sets In”. Brad learns that both the American and Philippine governments require some paperwork to be done before Hope can fly to the U.S. This disturbs Brad somewhat, because he really misses Hope (they’ve been apart for almost three days now), and he’s anxious to have her in his arms again. Hope is similarly impatient. Brad assures her, though, that he’ll get the paperwork done quickly, and that they’ll only be apart for a few weeks longer.

Stage 3: “Confusion”. Brad has submitted a dozen forms, three of which were returned to him (after several weeks) with boilerplate letters from the INS telling him he needs to clarify, add, delete, or reiterate something. To his surprise, the INS also wants to know when the last time he went moose hunting in Canada was, whether he bagged a moose, and why he chose to go moose hunting instead of duck hunting, since Canada has some really cool duck hunting spots, or so the INS has been led to believe by the folks next door. In the Philippines, Hope learns that she must make a twelve hour bus ride to Manila, at which point she will stand in line for another six hours to get into the U.S. Embassy, assuming the bus doesn’t drive off the side of a cliff, or get swallowed by lahar, or get incinerated by a volcanic explosion.

Stage 4: “Resentment”. Brad is getting bitter and Hope if falling into despair. Brad finds himself saying things like, “What business does the government have to tell me whom I can or cannot marry? What right does the government have to keep me and my fiancée apart? Isn’t this a free country?” Desperate and bitter, he tries to get creative. Maybe he can get her a tourist visa, or a work visa, or an education visa, he thinks. Sure, those would be fraudulent visas, but it serves the government right for keeping him and his fiancée apart! Hope, at this stage, has been standing in line for three weeks and has lost feeling in both legs. She can’t even remember what she’s in line for anymore, though she hopes it tastes good.

Stage 5: “Rebellion”. Brad has been told by cooler heads that he has no hope of bringing Hope to the U.S. via a fraudulent visa, and that even if he pulled it off, Hope would be beheaded by the INS if she were ever found out. Well, beheaded or deported, the cooler heads can’t exactly remember what the penalty is, but whatever it is, they’re sure it’s very bad. Brad decides to write his Senator a forceful letter protesting his treatment by the INS. The Senator has the letter date stamped and triple-notarized before folding it into a paper airplane and throwing it out his office window. In the off-chance that it catches a headwind and flies back through his window and lands on his desk, he may act on it, but he’d prefer that it fly quietly to the ground below and poke out the eye of a Senator from the other party.

Stage 6: “Despair”. Brad hasn’t heard from the INS in weeks and has no idea where his petition stands. He’s grown paranoid, and studies the photocopies of every form he submitted, riddled with anxiety. Do his O’s look like zeroes? Is that causing a problem, maybe? Should he have written “an” instead of “a” in that narrative about the moose hunt? Has the INS trashed his form and rejected his petition because he’s such a poor writer? Can they even do that? He calls INS and spends hours on hold only to be told that INS has his petition and is processing it. When he asks if there’s a problem, he’s certain that he can hear INS staffers laughing in the background and asking, “Is that the guy?!” Brad has taken out a second mortgage on his liver in order to pay for all of Hope’s expenses, plus those associated with the immigration paperwork itself. He’s comforted somewhat by the news that Hope will be off her crutches soon.

Stage 7: “Zombieland”. Brad is in a daze. At work he spends his time lazily surfing Filipino Internet sites. At home, he mopes. He begins to doubt himself and his plan to marry Hope. He begins to think Hope has found someone else during his long absence. He grows resentful of other married couples. Sometimes he thinks it would be better just to call the whole thing off, to tell Hope he loves her but fate won’t allow them to be together, but then he talks to her on the phone and falls in love again and cries himself to sleep.

Stage 8: “Victory”. Without warning, Brad learns from Hope or the INS or Santa Claus that his fiancée is free to catch the next plane or magical sleigh or flying carpet to the United States. Just like that. Gone today, here tomorrow. Brad spends an hour in absolute shock, then feints, then gets up and goes screaming into the streets like Jimmy Stewart at the conclusion of “It’s a Wonderful Life”. Because, at that point, it is, isn’t it?

The Odds. Never lose site of the fact that the odds are overwhelmingly in your favor...

Rob,

The embassy lists 4 notations that would need an explanatory letter from the NBI. Aside from the "No Derogatory Record" I am also aware of "No Record On File". I'll see if I can find more info at the NBI website.

Need NBI letter if notation is:

No Criminal Record

No Criminal Conviction

No Pending Case

With Derogatory Record

NBI letter not needed if notation is:

No Derogatory Record

Not sure if NBI letter is needed for this:

No Record On File

Patientlywaiting can you add me to your tracking list for manila embassy appointments. My NOA2 was as of 7/10/06 and I have a case number of MNL2006-698XXX. By the way what is the best way to confirm that the Manila embassy has received my file I am calling from the US. It looks like there is a pay number 1-888-877-9888 is that what you are all using to confirm the Manila embassy received your information and that your in line for an appointment??? I tried the internet link but it keeps bounching back with no appointment maybe I am not using the right format or I probably don't have an appointment scheduled yet.

Thanks for all the great work on this forum I enjoy reading the posts and its good to see I am not alone in my wait for my dear Angelmae.

Thanks,

Brian
