Will she be questioned upon entry at SLE why she came before her scheduled appointment? She still need to present her appointment letter right?

They won't ask why she's early. She just needs her appointment letter with her. Oh, and tell her not to glue her pictures onto her forms... I was given trouble for pasting mine...

Okay cool  She is scheduled to fly on 04/16 but we will try to reschedule it a week before so she can have it done soon.

Another question folks...about placing the picture on DS-156? Can we paste her 2 x 2 picture now on the Form DS-156 or wait until she gets to the USE? And which forms again need to be validated by the bank for the payment of $100? Thanks! :help:

Hi guys,

They want the photos pasted on the DS-156.

The DS-157 form is validated by the bank when you pay the visa fee. It may cause some confusion, since in the Packet 4 received by your fiancee, it says the DS-156 is the one validated. This is a mistake by the Embassy. I believe Sherrif Uling explained this very well in his very comprehensive KI guide you can find on his signature block. Check it out

Sending good thoughts and wishes to B&N who is right there on the stage now.. and to Judy of AlanluvsJudy tomorrow.

A confident smile and faith in your relationship will pull you through the gauntlet just fine

Give us the good news when you come back from the embassy!

Hi! guys,

I planned to have my early medical this 10-11th of April. I dont have my packet 4 yet. the person my fiance talked to said it was sent already last 14th of this month but i dont have it yet.

Im goin to manila on the 5th of April to see my fiance and would be staying there after my medical exam is done.

In case i wont be getting my packet 4 yet next week, can i still go and have my medical exam without the appointment letter? if yes, what documents should i bring in place of the appointment letter? i have my ID pictures and passport already. only the appointment letter is my problem.

thanks in advance for your promt answers.

Im May batch too, and like you im waiting for the packet 4 to arrived. I want to have an early medical appointment just like you. But then Im also confused it its ok if u dont have that pre-appointment letter but as i see, we need it in order to have our medical, its a requirement together with pictures and passport. When i called St Lukes, she told me as long as u have that appointment letter, need to be photocopied u can have your medical early of your schedule, for it is first come, first serve basis. Hope we get this letter anytime soon. I really want to have my medical too asap so i'll be at ease, lol!

Hi joemaria,

If you have the medical exam and interview sked already and want to take the med exam ahead of schedule, but don't have Packet 4 (with the required appointment letter) yet ... you can call St. Luke's and request them to get your Packet 4 from the embassy, and inform them of the date you want to pick it up. They do that. One day before your requested date, better to call St. Luke's to confirm if your Packet is there.

If they confirm your packet is there, you can just then tell the guard that you're there to pick up your Packet and they will let you in. And you can actually start on your medical the same day.

Good luck!

Gen

Wow thanks Gen, when I called at St Lukes she didnt tell me that...thanks i'll do that!

Thanks guys! I know we read it somewhere in this forum that there was a mistake in the Packet info. We have all the forms ready and just waiting for the interview...please confirm if we got all DS forms right....

1. Prepare two (2) DS-156 electronically with 2 x 2 photos pasted on the space provided and signed.

2. Prepare two (2) DS-157 and have it validate by either BPI or Citibank upon payment of $100.

3. Prepare one (1) DS-156K (Do not sign until told by the Consul).

Anything we missed  ? Ohh for the DS-157, are they going to validate both forms or just one? Also for the medical at SLEC, I read somewhere that they only accept peso currency. Is that true? Can we pay in dollars instead? Thanks!

I called St. luke this morning.

I asked about my query here. The person i talked to said it's fine to take an early medical without the appointment letter from the embassy as long as you have your interview date and the rest of the requirements (passport and photos). Now, i can breathe.

Thanks everyone for your replies.

I posted this in the sub-forum of asia, but got no response. And as i browsed through all 460pages of this thread i will post it here. I have lurked alot, but now i need the advice of the VJ members. I live in Hawaii and filing a K1 visa for my fiance in PI. The thing is from 2001-2006 i was kinda poor, and no where near the 20,000 threshold for the 1-34. I only averaged 8000 a year. However I will most likely get a job with the TSA in may or june. So i was wondering if they would look at job and it's 35,000 a year salary and approve the visa? I can get my parents to co-sponsor, but it seems that the consulate does not approve of this. Therefore should i worry about that, which would be 9 months down the road, and just file and pray? Also congrats to everybody who was approved, and good luck living in America. I know my wife will fit in rather easy, coz they are many Filipinos here, and she is Ilocano, which the majority of them here, plus her aunty and cousin live here.

I have read several cases in which the CO approved a visa when the petitioner had previously had no job, but for the past few months before the interview had a good paying job, and were approved. I believe you should be okay, but at the same time the consulate in the Philippines is known for being unpredictable, so you should plan on providing as much evidence as possible that you will be able to support your future wife. Having your parents co-sponsor also isn't a bad idea, though they may or may not accept a co-sponsor for a K-1.

My wife is also Ilocano.

Coco Puff

Prepare one DS-156 electronically, then photo copy that. If you do two of them on line you will get two different bar codes, (my experience haha).

On the DS-157, BPI would only validate one, theirs, not ours. It was stamped on the back of the form.

I think you are correct on the DS-156K.

We paid the medical in pesos, and I recall someone else saying they only accepted pesos. We also paid the BPI interview fee in pesos.

Good Luck

Mari...

Jinky is doing very well. My wife, Jhen, and her talk all the time. I see that you applied for your SS card. Cool! When is the big day? I look forward to seeing your lovely wedding pictures. You are a very attractive couple, and look perfect together.

Cheers!!!

Ahmari & Jhen

Hello Sheriff!

Thanks for the nice words! :D same to you and as head over heels inlove with each other as you both too!

Yes we applied for my SSN and expecting to arrive in the mail this week. It was easy, the girl there just looked at my original BC, passport, visa and I-94 and then she gave me a letter that says it will be available in 2 weeks. The waiting was not hard coz the guard there was awesome and entertaining us with his friendly gestures and smiling face and promptness and a bird sound thing that he played when the room was filled with silence. it was fun. :))

We are still preparing for the big day... but we are planning on going to the county office this week or next week for a court wedding so that we can at least move on to the next phase of this journey.. the AOS. Btw, congrats on your approval. It was not too long ago that you celebrated for ur visa approval and now here comes the AOS. We are very happy for you.

Im glad to hear about Jinky and hoping to meet you all there in person soon.

Ingats,

Eric and Mari
