I think you should apply for a job with Immigrations LOL. You are well organized. With the 5 minute interviews, I think the pre-interview and CO have set questions to ask... looks like you are good to go. We have interviews the same day. Good luck, Ken Maria

Hahahaha.. Actually, me and my fiance are thinking about it. We are considering making this a business lol..This process makes you

Goodluck on your interview too

Hi,

Michael, if your filing a joint return your wife MUST sign the 1040 even if she has no reportable income...look at the signature line on the 1040...it says if filing a joint return both spouses must sign.

Star, I read all that also....the IRS people sid that as long as it was notarized its fine...I have sent mine off with my tax return after letting an accountant here look at it...we are not getting the ITIN abroad , it is being obtained in the US with the filing of my taxes. The w-7 is submited along wth your taxes to the TX address and they take it from there...it takes a little longer to get your return than normal. You don't get the ITIN then file taxes its done at the same time. I think you are referring to the process of obtaining an ITIN for say business purposes abroad. This is just getting an ITIN for spouse until they arrive and get thier ssn.

Jazzy

Given the choices listed for acceptable documents required, I figured the certified passport route made the most sense for us since she just happened to be staying at the provinical capital with a DFA office nearby and it was a very simple process for her. The color copy of her passport was not notarized. The DFA letter has their stamp and signature.

I had sent her a filled up W-7 to sign and return in December. She had no reportable income from 2006, so I did not have her sign the joint 1040 return. Figgers the IRS revised the W-7 in January 2007 and also has changed the mailing address to Austin TX. The previous form was to be sent to Bensalem PA, which is where I sent my return. I hope to H it gets to where it's supposed to go. So, I guess I'll wait until...hmmm, maybe June to see if what I did was acceptable.

hey folks, hope someone can clarify this for us, i think we are ok, but just want to be sure. with all the talk about late registered BC's, exactly how do you know if a BC is late registered? On my wifes BC, from the NSO, in block 25 date prepared is the date of her birth done by the midwife at the birth, then in block 20 Received in the office of the Local Civil Registrar there is no signature or anything, just the stamped date which is abt 1 month after my wifes birth. this would not be a late reg bc, would it? thx 4 the help!

:help: any other beneficiaries have just a date in the local civil registrar box? was it/is it a problem? thx!

hi all! just need help asap about getting an SSN "before" getting married... if i applied for an SSN, what should i typically bring??? (what kind of docs/proofs)... in their application form, page 2, stated:

if you check "legal alien not allowed to work" you must provide from a US Federal, State, or local govt agency that explains why you need a SSN...

im not really sure with that statement...just confused here... and how long should i wait after applying for one...

thanks all!!!

We took:

1. SSN Application

2. Passport/Visa

That's all...

Cheers!!!

Sheriff Uling

NOTE: The SSA requires two forms of ID from the beneficiary. So show them your passport and visa pages. By law, those are two different IDs and that is what we did. In order to play the game, you must either know the rules or get the handbook. Yeah Baby Yeah!!!

Hi soul,

On newer BC's like for my step daughter you can tell by the registry number in the regristry box at top of bc...the registry number starts with year theBC was issed. On older BC's its the date in box 25 a you refered to. A late registry is a bc that has been registered years afte rthe fact. Hope that helps.

(6). The DELBROS website is within my signature. DELBROS is the company responsible for delivering the beneficiary’s Visa and POE information. The DELBROS delivery fee is paid subsequent to the beneficiary’s visa interview at the Manila Embassy. Per the Manila Embassy website, the current delivery fee/time is as follows:

* Metro Manila Areas, 135 Philippine Pesos, Delivered one (1) to three (3) business days after release of visaed passport to the courier

* Provincial Key Cities (ex. Cebu City, Davao City, etc.) 165 Philippine Pesos; Delivered three (3) to five (5) business days after release of visaed passport to the courier

* Outside Provincial Key Cities, (ex. Capiz, Leyte, Bukidnon, etc.), Cost depends on area/location, Delivered five (5) to seven (7) business days after release of visaed passport to the courier

NOTE: Per the DELBROS staff, the Manila Embassy can take as much as three (3) business days to release the visa and POE package, which is NOT included in the deliver times above. You may also call the Manila Embassy, dial 0 for the operator, and ask for Delbros, after the visa is approve, to acquire about the status of your visa delivery.

(8). The I-94 Arrival / Departure Record form is within my signature. Foreigners (beneficiaries) complete the I-94 and the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officer stamps the applicant’s visa and the arrival and departure portions of the I-94 at the Port of Entry (POE) when entering the States. The CBP Officer will keep the arrival portion and staple the departure portion of the I-94 to your visa where they stamped the beneficiaries arrival date. You will need this for the Adjustment of Status process. NOTE: Even though it’s simple, I have supplied this so you will know what it looks like and what is required to be filled out.

FINAL NOTE: The red text indicates the recent updates/chages. Please let me know if there are any suggestions. I have also correlated the numbers above to my signature below.

Hi Sheriff:

I like this so far. Would you consider putting the instructions as to how to track the delivery of the visa when Delbros gets it? I know you use the MNL200xxxxxxx but is it "01" after that number, or are there variations? Thanks,

Gary

I already checked into what we have to do. If she puts her PI address down on the license we can get married without a SSN. Just show her passport and visa. If we put my address down then she would need a SSN.

Gary, really? If that is the case, and we can get married before getting her a SSN, we may do that as well. Although I see no reason to delay getting her a SS card ASAP as well.

You will not need a SSN in order to get married. The married license nor the married certificate require a SSN. However, I recommend applying for the SSN anytime after 10 days after the beneficiary arrives in the US.

Hope this helps...

To Richard&Maria and garya: The 13th of February will be a lucky day for all of us. My wife is feeling the nervousness today, but she says she is going to Quiapo early morning Tuesday to pray the rosary before the interview. I told her there is no reason to be nervous--I love her and our love for each other will overcome any obstacles...I pray that all of us are blessed this week. God bless all of you and good luck on Tuesday the 13th--

Gary

Yes Sheriff, it does!

It will vary from state to state. You need to do like I did and call the county clerk where you live. Just explain the situation and they will tell you what is allowed.

Luz and I decided to marry within a few days of her arrival. Just a quick civil cerimony at the court house. Then we can apply for her SSN in her married name and apply for the AOS right away. A few months later, after we have a chance to settle in we will have a big wedding at my fathers farm. (outdoor).

A few months later, after we have a chance to settle in we will have a big wedding at my fathers farm. (outdoor).

I will do just that Gary! Good thinking, only applying for the SSN once and in her married name. Hopefully Washington state works like that.

We plan on a small ceremony, hopefully at a local, very old Catholic Church. The larger full wedding will take place down the road, in PI with her friends and family. :D

Good luck to Luz! And to everyone interviewing February 13th, hopefully my fiancee can save everyone a little good luck from February 12th!
