a warm hello to everyone! PW, thanks for adding me to your list. i had been reading and following this thread everytime i visit VJ. i think all the posts ( questions, experiences, ideas) seem to be very helpful to each and everyone who is on this visa process. i myself has many things on mind to share and clarify, i guess some cases need legal advices but i would appreciate any advice from anybody here. to start with, i am not married but i have kids ( my fiance knows about it, of course! in fact my kids are K2 derivatives). my kid's father and i had parted ways almost 6 years for some unavoidable reasons. good thing i did not marry him... what i am worried about is that my kids has their father's names on their BC's(i am not married to him) and the sad thing was there is a date of marriage that we put in there just to have the kids registered. if we could remember about the old family code, a child cannot carry his/her father's name if born out of wedlock. since i am giving birth to a hospital and i known my OB, she didnt ask for a marriage contract for the babies registration. now my question is..is this a big factor for an AR? my fiance submitted a CENOMAR when he filed the petition with the kids BC's. we were worried that we cannot get approved if the USCIS people check the BC's and ask for RFE's. but we were amazed after 69 days we got our NOA2 . anyone who have the same case like mine could share some ideas on what im going to do with these? or if someone know a lawyer whom can i ask some legal advice about such case? i would appreciate every inch of help that i can get from you guys. i am really worried i might put on AR because of this. by the way, my kids will just join me later if i got my visa. thanks everyone for giving your time reading my post. Well, Jinky was finished by about 11:30am on her Thursday. She will return at 9:00am, her Friday to get her vaccinations and then she is through with St. Luke's. She said she arrived at about 6am Thursday morning and was number 78, but said the process went smoothly.

Just want to emphasize to everyone who is about to get their medical - refer to Sheriff Uling's tips - it will help you tremendously!

YAY! Passed d interview.........................Philip said that he had old lady American interviewer, like only 2 questions, request to look at pics and emails wanted to see tax return and affadavit of support, nothing else..... Pilipina pre-screener, very strict apparently..........otherwise he said very easy no pressure! thanks again everyone for ur support, I will be going over there March to spend one month of summer there and then coming back to NY ! i am gonna pass out! LOL! can't believe it is true!

Need further information My fiancee got the notice already from USE Manila. Question about "Evidence of Bonafide relationship"...we have letters/cards/emails/phone calls/courier receipts...what about "Proof of Financial Support"? What is this? Never heard of this before This is a seperate requirement from I-134, Affidavit of Support in the letter she received from USE. We are in process for K1 Visa. Do we need this "Proof of Financial Support? Can someone explain what is this? Thank you.

I guess I have officially arrived at the freaking out stage with our USE interview in less than 2 weeks.

I have 2 questions, please:

(1.) Maricel went to get a new NBI as advised. NBI listed her name in all caps correctly, but with a small "y" added between her first and middle name. I thought it was a typo. Since I have read so much about how typos/misspellings of any kind can cause problems, I asked her to return to have another NBI typed up. However, when she returned, NBI told her it was normal to have the "y" added after the first name, because it indicates that the NBI is a renewal NBI.

Has anyone else experienced this or seen this small "y" on your renewal NBI Clearance?

(2.) Maricel's rent house is difficult to find. Because of this we rented a joint post office box together when I visited her last Summer. However, I know Delbros will not deliver to a PO Box. Also, the Delbros website says that you are unable to contact them to arrange to pick up a package.

Is this true? For those of you with experience getting your Visa delivered by Delbros, did you have any trouble getting the package? Are you able to call Delbros when the package is "Out for Delivery" to arrange to pick it up?

And ohh Sheriff, I know you told me in PM that my income itself is sufficient enough ($50,000) and all I need is letter of verification, 3 years of ITR (maybe include the current W-2 as well) and 6 months of pay stubs. And here you go again the question of the bank statement since they include it there again as part of the requirement. Should I get one or should I not? Sorry keep on asking about this I just want to make sure my fiancee's interview will go smoothly. Thank you once again

I still haven't had my NBI Clearance renewed, so I'm not really sure how it looks like.. but IMO the format "first name y last name" .. i.e. Juana Maria y Cruz is acceptable. It is a Spanish way of stating the name (probably an offishoot of the Spanish era in Philippine history???) I'm sure someone will pop in to correct me if I'm wrong

As to your second question.. I still have to go through the gauntlet (the interiew) myself on March 22 ... but I have read that when you fill up the Delbros form after the interview, you can specify an address of a friend or relative where it is most convenient for you to have the visa delivered. Of course you have to leave a valid ID and letter of authorization for your friend/relative to be able to receive your visa for you.

Only the self employed folks have been submitting bank statements to validate the ability to support their beneficiaries. Bank statements nor a statment from your bank indicating the date the account was opened, the total deposits over the past year, and the current balance are not required if your income is above 125% of the poverty level. However, the instructions on the I-134 do not read that way, nor does it suggest those hidden loop-holes. In fact, I personally recommend submitting a statement from the petitioner's bank, if that is an added benefit for couples. However, it's not necessary.

If the embassy does not find a marriage contract between you and your ex at the NSO and during background check, then there should be no problem. The date of marriage in your kids’ BC might not even come up during interview (unless the consul has eagle eyes) but if it does come up, you can explain it the way you explained it here. That in order for you to register the birth of your kids and use their father’s name, you had to come up with a date of marriage.

Rule of thumb is to submit requirements as it applies to your case. Proof of financial support is normally required for CR-1/IR-1 cases. But even if you are K1 and you send money to your fiancee, then you may supply proof of your remittances. If no support is sent, the proof of support is not applicable to you (except of course the I-134, W2, ITR, employment certificate which are standard requirements for all).

And to second the Sheriff.

Bank letter is on a case-to-case basis, again, as it applies to your case. If you make well over the poverty guideline, the embassy may not require the bank letter. However, we always advise to “better be safe than AR”. If you can provide bank statement, then by all means, send it. Think of the visa process as a war, always bring extra bullets

1) I agree with Gen. It is the Spanish way. My NBI clearance has the “y” and the “de”. “y” is to denote mother’s maiden name and “de” is to denote married name. For example, Jackie Kennedy’s (Jacqueline Lee Bouvier Kennedy) NBI clearance would appear as:

BOUVIER de KENNEDY, JACQUELINE y LEE

2) Agreed. Specify the address where you want the passport and visa delivered at the Delbros info sheet and it will be delivered there.

I just got an 11th hour jitter... I just read in the Regional Discussion Forum - someone giving advice regarding Visa approvals through the US Embassy in Vietnam. He says that if the two of you met online and then only one time in person, that is a surefire way to have your Visa denied.

I realize that each embassy has their own quirks, but has anyone heard of someone going through the Manila Embassy with those two factors get denied?
