I saw somewhere on this forum that St. Luke staff may take my fiancee's passport? Should they hold on to it? Well she get it back when she goes in for the interview at the embassy? I would appreciate a quick response. Her medical exam is tomorrow.

Oh another question is that her DS 157 will be machine stamp when she pays the VISA fee right? Its likely she will be given a stamped blank DS 157. I assume she can pay the VISA fee anytime before the interview (she does not have to before medical). Aloha again for all of your help!

Pilipina pre-screener, very strict apparently..........otherwise he said very easy no pressure! thanks again everyone for ur support, I will be going over there March to spend one month of summer there and then coming back to NY ! i am gonna pass out! LOL! can't believe it is true!

yes, St Lukes will take the passport. she'll get it back when Delbros delivers the visa after the interview. yes she can pay the visa application fee anytime before the interview.

Yes, they took my wife's passport on the first day of the medical and sent it and results to the embassy. She had to go back second day for immunizations and to get x ray copy. Just keep copy of her passport to go to interview.

My wife went to Iloilo branch-they had her go to internet cafe fill out and print online, then they took that one stamped with receipt. Others say they get different results at different locations.

Hi all,

Ok a little update here after my initial melt down of a reaction.

All the consul wants to see is some photos of Jasmin and Gracey from birth to present. Graceys paper work was fine...we had a couple affidavits, letter from school, school id and baptismal (but that was done at time of late reg. bc). They did give her a 221(g)....but all that was checked was the family photos line and the passport line.

Jasmin went back to embassy after we spoke and they explained that they are now handing the passports back when additional documents are required...we merely submit the passports along with supporting documents. Jasmin will be returning home friday and mailing off the photos and passports saturday ( they said mailing was fine). We will of course follow up to assure the safe arrival. They had us pay the delbros fee and the gir at the embassy told Jasmin she is fine if they made her pay that...just submit the photos. I am hoping because it is NOT a document check....consul said all was fine there...that once they see the photos the visa will be processed....I feel much now...a little relieved, though our journey is not over quite yet...there is the light at the end of the visa tunnel...

PW...Jasmin told me you had mentioned the pics to her....i figured with having the affidavits from family and friends it would be enough..but there was no real way to get the pics to manila in time. The embassy will have the pics by monday!!!! I am very excited!!

Just talked to the Visa Unit. It was finally approved today and is in the 'issuance' department for the Visa to be printed. Said it may take a couple days, but whos complaining. These past few days have been torture......

Finally........APPROVED. My baby can come home soon!!! Yeah.

Ok a couple of questions saw catching up this evening after work. Hotels.. look for hotels in the Ermita or Malate area as both are walkign distance to the Embassy. Try Precision Reservations for the hotel. We got Exec plaze for 438 a night including the VAT.

One-way flights can be booked for a fraction of the cost with thiese websites. Just remember if you book it online for your fiancee or finace, you will still have to pay the 1650 travel tax because the ticket was purchased outside the PI. try these TravelPH / Kayak.com or BestTravelStore I found the best prices at kayak and they eventually took me to PAL.

The departure tax was still 550 peso on 15 Jan when I left and the 200 peso security fee stil hd not been implemented. Good luck, Ken & Maria

Hey Ken_Maria,

Next time your booking rooms for Manila you may want to try www.asiarooms.com. I have found they are always less expensive than precision. For instance Executive Plaza is $38 inluding all taxes and fees. God bless.
