Steve...

My wife is from Laguna on the Island of Luzon. VJ has been a huge part of life for the majority of this year (even before I became a member). I stumbled across VJ after I had researched and learned some general knowledge about the process. VJ helped to fill in the gaps and gave us the ability to learn, grow, and share with a great group of people. It's an honor for me to share what I have learned with others and continue to grow.

Cheers!!!

I have heard of Laguna its a province outside of Manila , I have been to the Philippines a few times and have been to several cities before, its a beautiful country and I really adore the hospitality of the people, I can see how happy you are from your wedding photos and you are blessed with a lovely filipina wife so take good care of her and she will love you forever.

So I don't need to do anything at all? :unsure:

Yes, you don't need to do anything. Remember the email that the embassy sent you? There's a part there that mentions about the validity of NOA2. Here it is...

... x x x ...

We want to assure you that while an approved fiancé(e) petition is originally valid for four months from the date of its approval, a consular officer may revalidate it for an additional four months. This revalidation is routine as long as you and the beneficiary remain legally free to marry and continue to intend to do so within 90 days after the beneficiary is admitted into the United States.

... x x x ...

I see. It didn't understand "routine" to mean automatic, but I guess it is.

Hmmm, then why does VJ have a sample letter requesting an extension?

I've got an example. I will try to attach it here. If not I will copy and paste.

Well I've decided to fax one. After reading an article that touched on this subject from Marc Ellis our own VJ'er and immigration attorney I decided that's the best course of action. I mean I do beleive the dates are routinely extended but I figure why not cover all the bases.

That's what I was thinking too. I'm going to be there for the interview and I don't plan on flying home alone. :angry:

Hi all, hope everyone had a good Christmas. Marivic and I processed through Detroit for POE this morning via Manila - Japan. The POE was a simple 2 minute stand at the window get a few stamps and hand them the sealed envelope. We are both jet lagged but very happy to be home together. It was the first time I have flown home from the Phils without feeling so depressed ;-)

Welcome home! :star:

Question: Do you know if they still require a bank account letter for the interview or is that optional.

Answer: Yes! The instructions for the I-134 state that:

"The sponsor must submit in duplicate evidence of incomeand resources, as appropriate:

A. Statement from an officer of the bank or other financial institutions where you have deposits...

.........1. Date account opened;

.........2. Total amount deposited for the past year;

.........3. Present balance.

B. Statement of your employer on business stationery, revealing:

.........1. Date and nature of employment;

.........2. Salary paid;

.........3. Whether the position is temporary or permanent.

C. If self-employed:

.........1. Copy of last income tax return filed

.........2. Report of commercial rating concern.

D. List containing serial numbers and denominations of bonds and name of record owner(s)."

NOTE: Most sponsors do NOT submit anything under item "D", but the USE does't seem to mind because not everyone has stocks and bonds. On the other hand, there is a strong likelyhood that sponsors have bank account(s) and the USE may look unfavorable about a missing statement from the bank or other financial institution concerning the sponsors' deposit(s).

steve3656,

you can provide copies bank statements instead of letter from the bank. what I provided my fiancee with was 3 most recent tax transcripts, copies of the W-2, notarized form I-134, and a letter from my employer. I didn't provide bank statements or bank letter, but I'm not recommending you don't. I didn't feel it necessary with my particular situation.

Let's say, for example, that your income is 3X the poverty level. Is there any point at all in providing a bank statement or letter from the bank for an account with say, $3000 in it? Or for that matter, is there any point in providing anything other than the employer letter, copies of tax returns, and W-2 forms?

that was kind of my thinking, which is why I did not provide bank letter or statements. however I am not suggesting for others not to submit a bank letter or statements.

Steve3656,

The discussion about the I-134 requirements a great reason why I love VJ... collective knowledge and experience... It appears (by the success of our other Phil-Am families) the USE is fine with or without the letter of Statement from an officer of the bank or other financial institutions accompaning the I-134. So you may omit it from your submission without consequence.

Cheers!!!
