Hahaha!! I think my lucky charm's working double-time for me lately.. Believe it or not, I only waited 3 minutes when I called NVC to check on my case. I could't believed it either.In fact, I completely forgot to ask about the new case# so I called them again and even when I called for the second time it was pretty fast too! I was on hold for on or about 5 minutes! Incredible indeed..hahaha! For those of you who's curious, I called NVC yesterday around 6:15PM EST. Happy holidays!

When I'm there I use one of those security wallet thingies that tucks under my thw waistband in my pants. The money gets a little sweaty but I still have it.

I feel so naive for not having thought of this before. I just bought her a new gold wedding band with rubies in it. She is wearing it around Manila. I told her to remove jewelry and leave excess money at home. Thanks guys.

Hi everyone,

Just venting a little frustration....I called the NVC today to see if our CR petitions, which were documentarily approved oct 17 had been given an interview yet...and of course nothing yet. However the lady at the NVC said they will have ebruary dates available in after january 15th....this makes no sense...i've already seen the february dates out and that would leave alot of time to plan before the interview...since when did the embassy ever give only one month notice....ok....done venting....its just we would like to plan my trip there for the interview......if there are any CR-1/2 that have interviews scheduled...how much notice did you recieve? On another note....kind of a sad day...its exactly one year ago today we had our k-1 interview...and it was denied for annulment paper reasons....

I have some general questions regarding the forms for packet 4 for anyone, especially those who've already had their interview:

1. Filling out the forms with hand writing vs. typing them - Is this a choice for all the forms? For example, DS-156 says it can filled out online and filed electronically - has anyone done it this way? For consistency, I thought it'd be best for Jinky to fill them out by hand.

If possible, try to fill them out electronically. It's easier and more convenient to finalize and print. Ours were either electronically-filled or typewritten for the sake of neatness and uniformity.

2. Affidavit of Support (I-134) - the sample form provided here on VJ shows blanks for, 'amount in savings', 'total property', 'stocks', etc... and only lists annual salary. If my salary is well over the limit requirement, should I leave the other parts blank or should I have them all filled out? Is a bank statement then necessary if I leave out any list of savings?

I left the rest of them blank and just filled-out the salary part.

3. Income tax returns - I have my w-2 for 2005 tax year. If it the entire tax return isn't required, I'd rather just give them my w-2 unless somebody here can tell me if the Manila Embassy looks at anything additional that I would include.

I don't electronically file my taxes so I have a paper-copy of my tax return. I made a copy of that and attached the corresponding copy of the W2. It's advisable to include the tax return AND W2.

4. Regarding Jinky's 5 year old son - has anyone here also had a child go through the medical? Because he is so young I worry about the day long process and how Jinky can tend to his needs when she is also going through examination?

5. On the embassy website, it recommends that you not make any travel plans before the interview, yet I have read where many people buy their plane tickets in advance for the cheaper airfare. Has anyone ever been asked during the interview whether they purchased airfare ahead of time and will that reflect negatively?

I don't think it's routinely asked although it's asked in one of the forms. It is not a mistake to make travel plans but since we don't know the outcome of the Visa interview, it's best not to make concrete plans until they have their VISA. If you must purchase tickets, buy the ones that will allow you to change the dates without a huge fee.

Congrats on the upcoming interviews! I tell yah...time flies. Tomorrow my husband will have his biometrics appointment!!!

We're right there with you Jazzy. We've been documentarily qualified since Nov 15 and am waiting as well. There are so few CR-1s that I know of and many many K-1s that are zipping through now. I called NVC also last week and wasn't told much of anything. I also have a K-3 that has been approved since Nov 20 with no NVC case number assigned yet. I don't know which interview we'll get, but I'd expect it will be the CR-1. Doesn't seem as though there was any point in submitting the I-129F since the I-130 processing was so quick. I'm getting my asawa ready for an interview on short notice, and hopefully that will be March, but who knows. The anxiety level is indeed increasing. It would be so nice to have this finished. Just hang in there. I tell my sweetie every day that passes is another day closer.

My fiance has an Annotated/Amended NSO Birth Certificate. Following up on some prior posts in this thread, I found the procedure for authenticating documents at the Department of Foreign Affairs and at Malacanang Palace in Manila. Here is the website:

The pre-interviewer didn't ask for my CENOMAR and I even asked the consul if she needs my CENOMAR... she said no. The pre-interviewer just asked for the Birth CErtificate, NBI Clearance, affidavit of support folder and the evidence of meeting with the petitioner...I was like asking her if she wants the phonebills, emails, etc...she said no. It was nervewrecking when you see your number being flashed on the screen but after the interview it's like a breath of fresh air!!!

I pray for those who are still going for the interview!!! Pray that God will you guys favor with the people that you will dealt with!!!:-)

That's why this process is retarded and so frustrating for many of us. They SHOULD be asking for the cenomar for ALL K-1's since singleness is THE essential requirement for this class of visa. Good for you guys that they didn't scrutinize things closely I guess, wish we had drawn your interviewer.
