If authentication removes the smallest doubt, it is worth it to me. I think we will do the same. Thanks for the heads up.

:protest: PW, it is not that those of us in AR did not have our documents ready it is that the consul wanted to verify one of our documents with the nso. Every time I see someone post like this I just cringe. A document check can and will happen randomly to cases. In talking to the embassy every day Lorrain admitted to me that the embassy lost some paperwork they ordered before our interview which leaves me scratching my head. They tell us to gather up cenomars, bc, mc, nbi but then they go ahead and order duplicates to check and throw people into AR and a lot of times they don't order up duplicates until after the embassy. They batch those requests which can take 4 to 6 weeks. A bit of advice, if your fiance/wife gets AR have her ask if she can carry a copy from NSO to the embassy, this may take time off of a document review related AR.

cybernutguy, I hate to say this but I am offended by your comment. If you read my post carefuly, never did I say that those in AR were not ready with their documents. And I quote my actual post:

Take note of the reasons for AR ~ birth certificate, Cenomar, divorce decree ~ so let us make sure our documents are in order.

I am sure that all of us spent many months and hours preparing and poring over our documents. But regardless, we all know that even if everything is in order, the embassy can still put anybody in AR. However, the chance of being put in AR "may" be minimized if documents are in order (e.g. they are current, they are NSO-issued, annulment decrees are certified true copies with embossed seal and not just photocopies, etc. etc.). We've heard of ladies appearing for their interview without photos attached to their visa applications and without the I-134. So what is wrong about reminding people to make sure that their documents are in order that it makes you cringe?

Ok i have a few question i actually filed for my K1 and this is the problem my fiancee' last name is from his mom cause the was never married his biological dad. so his using his mom's last name and the middle name on his BC states only initial (one letter, no description) Example: Name:Jose Middle Name: D. Last Name: Medina . So when i applied for K1 i included his middle name cause it's states on his BC. Now, when he went and get his passport, the lady that works at the passport place stated to him that they cannot include the middle name because that's his mom's middle not his..We are so confused . But it was stated on his BC...So now we have no idea what to do???

So now...

Are we gonna have a problem in the interview? Coz right now his passport doesn't stated anything except his first and last name.then they put - (dashes and leave it black so it's visible. We never thought this is gonna be a big deal but i guess it is...

My fiancee' did spoke to the people in City Hall & NSO but they said it's gonna take at 6 months to correct it and we have to pay 1000 ($20) pesos each letter. this is ridiculous i mean, what else can i do? need help here?...

m not sure abt n philippines, but here n states it is very acceptable to hav only an initial for a 1st or middle name. so for example, if the BC had Jose D Medina, then his middle name would officially be the letter D. if his bc there is like that then i would think the USE would accept that as his middle name. if that is the case, i think it might b easier for him to get a new passport showing the middle initial as his middle name, so that it matches the BC. u said that u put his middle name on the i129-f, did u mean u put a name or the initial? this might b the biggest problem. if you could get everything to match the BC i think that would b ur best bet. good luck!

m not sure abt n philippines, but here n states it is very acceptable to hav only an initial for a 1st or middle name. so for example, if the BC had Jose D Medina, then his middle name would officially be the letter D. if his bc there is like that then i would think the USE would accept that as his middle name. if that is the case, i think it might b easier for him to get a new passport showing the middle initial as his middle name, so that it matches the BC. u said that u put his middle name on the i129-f, did u mean u put a name or the initial? this might b the biggest problem. if you could get everything to match the BC i think that would b ur best bet. good luck!

its pretty much different here in phil coz we're automatically carrying the last name of our mother (her maiden name). thats why the D. (is just the middle intial and not a complete name. it could be Dion or Delgado). thats where the confusion starts knowing the D is from his grandmas maiden name. unless if his grandma adopted him then he could use the D. (i think). i just heard it from someone (i could be wrong), if the child is illigitimate then there's no middle name for him/her coz all our middle names are always from the last name of our mom's maiden name. lol... so yes the DFA has a reason for not giving him any middle name... ask for some legal advice in the philippines regarding with this matter to make it sure...

:protest: PW, it is not that those of us in AR did not have our documents ready it is that the consul wanted to verify one of our documents with the nso. Every time I see someone post like this I just cringe. A document check can and will happen randomly to cases. In talking to the embassy every day Lorrain admitted to me that the embassy lost some paperwork they ordered before our interview which leaves me scratching my head. They tell us to gather up cenomars, bc, mc, nbi but then they go ahead and order duplicates to check and throw people into AR and a lot of times they don't order up duplicates until after the embassy. They batch those requests which can take 4 to 6 weeks. A bit of advice, if your fiance/wife gets AR have her ask if she can carry a copy from NSO to the embassy, this may take time off of a document review related AR.

cybernutguy, I hate to say this but I am offended by your comment. If you read my post carefuly, never did I say that those in AR were not ready with their documents. And I quote my actual post:

Take note of the reasons for AR ~ birth certificate, Cenomar, divorce decree ~ so let us make sure our documents are in order.

I am sure that all of us spent many months and hours preparing and poring over our documents. But regardless, we all know that even if everything is in order, the embassy can still put anybody in AR. However, the chance of being put in AR "may" be minimized if documents are in order (e.g. they are current, they are NSO-issued, annulment decrees are certified true copies with embossed seal and not just photocopies, etc. etc.). We've heard of ladies appearing for their interview without photos attached to their visa applications and without the I-134. So what is wrong about reminding people to make sure that their documents are in order that it makes you cringe?

Yes. Please obtain new copies of annotated MC and certified true copies of court documents since they are over a year old.

Thanks for the info. Reviewing the posts, BC, MC, etc seems to be the biggest issue. There are too many flavors. And surprisingly how many mistakes or differences are on the same document.

Thanks for the advices... i only put the initially on his application for K1.. Coz that's what it states on his BC.

We seek for advice to my fiancee's uncle actually his a lawyer in the philippines. He stated to us to go to NSO to make a correction and bring his mom's BC to justify the mistake i think they said we can actually make the correction and put the middle name on the BC but my problem now is that, when we applied for K1 we included a copy of BC from NSO in the application(USCIS), Now on his interview they might see the changes and put him on AR right away and bit worried... So what now really confused ...

i was aware of how philippines uses mother's maiden name as a middle name, what i wasn't sure of was if it was a custom or the law. but my wife tells me it is the law. well, if i were u i would call the nvc or the embassy and ask someone there wut 2 do abt it. i would think AR, although not wanted, would still be better than a denial. best of luck, i hope ur fiancee gets the visa w/o AR
