Anybody use the USCIS "automatic case status updates" function? How useful it is?

Or just enter the receipt number every time to check the processing status?

I used it. It lets you check your case status quickly and sign up for e-mail notification.

The e-mail notification was good because I was able to find out the day our case was approved--instead of waiting for NOA2 to arrive in the U.S. mail. Other than that, it was not useful for us. Our case was never updated until the day it was approved.
