Got Interview Letter today

Eeek - got home today and the interview letter had arrived. I am so scared...

Tuesday, March 24 at 1:00 - all of Govi's paperwork is in order, I think all he needs is the medical. The letter doesn't say anything about a packet 3 or 4.

Interesting - my FIL is an astrologer and he said that Tuesday is a lucky day for me. My eye surgery 2 months ago was on a Tuesday and went very well - hopefully this will be another lucky Tuesday for both of us.

awesome. Good luck with the interview Govi! :D

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

Thanks everyone!!!

I told G this morning in chat, said he needs to Gurkha up and get that medical done, LOL... ;) Tuesday is Ganesh day so I am sure he will continue to bless us especially with your prayers Maya-didi...

What is the best way to send the reams of chat records, phone logs, etc?? I have had good luck with USPS Global priority mail - the big flat rate box costs around $38 and it takes usually about 2 weeks to get to Nepal. I am afraid if I send it by Fedex it will cost a fortune.

It WILL cost a fortune to send by FedEx - if you consider a fortune to be from $75-$175 (that seems to be the norm for a lot of people sending their stuff to India) (and YES I consider that a fortune! ). If you have had good luck with USPS Global Priority in the past AND you have pretty much everything ready to go, I say GO FOR IT! (But of course, be SURE to save copies of every single piece of paperwork you send, just in case. ) Jai Ganesha!!

To be on the safe side, in my humble opinion, it's worth it to spend the extra money. I have known USPS to take up to a month -- partly because they are not at all responsible for your package after it leaves the U.S. You probably don't need to send "reams" of stuff, either. The consulate doesn't need all that stuff, just enough to prove the relationship. Good luck.

You could take your package to one of those mailing stores and have them give you a quote for Fedex's rate, then decide.

I can't remember what I paid to send our Evidence of a Continuing Relationship, but it was less than $75 (by a lot, I think). Of course, it wasn't reams either... maybe 50 pages of an assortment of things spanning the time we were apart... letters, cards, emails, a couple of phone bills. 'Course that was when I thought that I'd be able to get there for his interview, bringing the rest of the Evidence with me (and I said so in a cover letter with the Evidence). We hardly ever chatted and only spoke by phone maybe twice a month, but we emailed daily. We decided to go with Fedex because DHL lost our first package  .

I also fax'd a letter to the Consulate right before S's interview, offering to fax them anything they wanted, and giving all my contact info and saying please call me if there's any question or concern. They didn't, and I don't know if my letter helped or was even noticed, but I felt better doing SOMETHING... I'd be happy share it with you if I haven't already... just an idea...

Very excited for you guys!

Maya

PS "Gurkha up" ...

Many thanks to the Visajourney community for all the help!
