Hi all,

Right now we re in the process of my I-130 - I'm the beneficiary and my husband is the petitioner. I was reading the link about the NVC process:

http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/...he_NVC_ShortCut and it says that normally the petitioner is the one who is the choice of agent, that is the one residing in the USA. Will it be a problem if I would be the Choice of Agent since my husband is on deployment when the time will come for us to fill that too? Are there any of you that went through this and the beneficiary was the choice of agent outside the USA?

I would greatly accept all your replies.

Thanks and good luck to everyone!!

Yes, you can appoint yourself as agent there wont be any problem. If you look at DS3032 form it has option of chosing yourself as agent.

Good luck!

If you have no other choice, it's still totally do-able. The reason it's better to have the US based petioner (or someone in the US) designated as the choice of agent is because it will really speed things up with the mailing times etc. You can still manage it just may take a bit longer!

Generally speaking the USC is made the agent because the mail is faster and turnaround time for the documents can be quickened. Is there someone in the states that can receive the mail for him and then get it to you. It is a simple process for the "agent" and what we did since I was with my wife during the visa process was to use me as choice of agent for my wife and then in the address section we put my name but used C/O my sister's name and that is the way NVC addressed everything to me. and then my sister just forwarded everything to me here either via E-mail or DHL for things that needed hard copy for processing.

Thanks for your replies. No there isnt really anyone trustable to be our choice of agent. I think i would rather take longer and do it all myself!

anyone who used his/her address outside the USA as choice of agent?
