Ladies in Washington DC area please read!!!!!

March 20, 2009. MediaTakeOut,com just learned that police in the suburbs of Washington, D.C. are concerned that there may be a serial killer who is targeting Black mothers and their teenage daughters. And the killer appears to be preying on women in Prince Georges County, Maryland - the county with the highest concentration of affluent African Americans in the United States.

On Monday night, Prince Georges County police found the bodies of Deloris and Ebony Dewitt, a mother and daughter, burning in a stolen Nissan Maxima.

And a little less than two months ago, the bodies of another mother and daughter, Karen and Karissa Lofton, were found shot dead in their Maryland home. MediaTakeOut.com learned that Karen and Karissa lived less than a mile away from Monday’s double murder.

Maj. Andrew Ellis of the Prince Georges County police is concerned that the murders may have both been perpetrated by the same serial killer. He said on Wednesday, "We don't have any evidence that this is a serial killer … But the coincidences between these cases are very strong."

MediaTakeOut.com will keep you up to date with any developments in this case!!!

EDITOR'S NOTE - If you know ANY African American women who live in the Maryland or Washington D.C. areas, please email them this report - better SAFE than SORRY!!!

Hey Everyone!! ELLS...its easy for me to keep it from my dad becuz its not like i see him everyday and we dont talk about " relationships" ..and when i go to his house he's mostly never there and when he is i take my ring off  ..lol..but i'm just waiting for the right time to spill my beans...like PORTLAND said.. i might just let everyone know that we're engaged and then when he comes just have a private ceremony...then re-marry later on ..i thought about that idea and my mom even suggested i do that but then..somehow i shewd away from that idea..but now it seems like the best thing to do in order to keep my sanity..let my my fam keep thinking we're just engaged until they get to "really" know him love him and accept him..and that way i can save towards having the "big fairytale" wedding that i've always wanted when i finish school which i have a year and a half left..so by then we will be settled and ready to re-marry for a nice family wedding !! :luv:

A former VJer did this. Her family did not approve her marrying her Jamaican fiance. He came here on a K1...they got married and did not tell a soul...well only two of us VJ. Then they planned this huge wedding a year later in Negril. It was nice cuz they both worked their butts off to make it happen. So people thought it was their wedding but it was actually their first year anniversary. They still crazy in love and just had a baby. I couldn't last cuz I have to big mouth :P

Plus it was stressful for them.

BTW - her father never came around so he did not come to the wedding. But other family members did.

WOW Shemmy ..thats nice..!! thats gonna be me only i know my dad and my fam will love him once they get to know him...my family wont approve of it now becuz they dont know him but i know once he gets here they will love him and accept him as my finace..either way i'm still gonna keep our marriage a secret until we're ready to have the wedding we really want ..by then it will be our 2 year anniversary...i wish i could just tell them and not care what they think but i just cant do that...becuz i dont want any anamosity between my dad and i..he's kinda crazy ..lol ..but i have faith that it will all wrk out..

Nikki, you aren't the only one - in some ways, I have the same issues - I have tried to get my Mom to go to JA with me, she won't - I have never ever brought anyone I dated around my family - don't know why, I just don't, neither does my brother. I want my family to meet DJ, get to know him and who he is, before they know of the marriage - Immigration makes that impossible to do - because if we did the K1, it is too short of a window before we marry - and 2 - my Mom won't go to JA - Plus, my family does the big formal wedding - I don't want that, I can't picture myself walking down the aisle in a formal wedding without my Dad, or dealing with the first dance, etc.... So we have decided to do something simple on the beach with his family, and whichever of my friends come down, then we will do something later on with my family, whether we tell them we eloped, or do a vow renewal - I want my family to meet him, get to know him and love him, before they judge him. I know my family and they will somewhat judge first based on the immigration - not based on him.

That's exactly what happened with my family & some friends. To them, Steven wasn't a person, but someone looking to immigrate here. Fortunately, my parents and aunt came with me to Jamaica last month. We all hung out with Steven and his family quite a bit. Now they see him as a person, and while they don't think he's perfect (who is?), they can see that he clearly loves me and cares, and that's the important thing.
