Didn't expect the approval this quckly and in fact didn't expect a approval at all.

September 28, 2007- Received at CSC

October 29, 2007- NOA1 hardcopy arrives!

February 5, 2008- NOA2!

April 23, 2008- Medical

April 22, 2008- Interview!

April 26, 2008- POE Edmonton

June 5, 2008- Legal wedding

October 11, 2008- Wedding ceremony with family

The what next here is what do we do now? Cancel the Canadian petition and continue with this one or stick with the Canadian one which is still faster and easier to get. I'm not there yet, still have to deal with Montreal and another medical and having had 2 operations and a stroke in the past few months can place a damper on everything. Still x number of hoops to go through.

Wow - at least it is one big hurdle that is out of the way! Good luck at reaching a decision about what course of action to pursue now. There are lots of good reasons to continue Sharon's journey to Canada but only you can decide which avenue is best for you two. Still, good, good news.

Congrats, Ron! So nice to hear that at least SOMETHING has happened in your process. Whatever you decide to do, I hope that it turns out to be easier then you have had it for the past couple of years!

Congratulations - I can imagine you're just sitting and spinning. Can you keep both applications going and just see which pans out first/ don't if that would costa riduclous amount of money or no.....

I would absolutely stick with the Canadian one, as you mentioned, it's already in the works, shouldn't take that long and will be faster than your U.S. application. Plus, once Sharon gets her Canadian PR card, if you do decide to move to the States it won't be cancelled - so it gives you the freedom to move between the countries.

Holy mackerel, Ron! Wowweeee!!!!!! That is awesome. I did the same as Trailmix..... looked at who started the thread and went "Holy Mackerel!!!!!!!"

I'd keep both in the works, but I would also have both of you write out the pros and cons for each move so that you make an informed decision when it comes time to deciding where to live.

Great news! And it's about time you and Sharon had some of that. Congratulations.

I don't really know how either getting a waiver or Canadian immigration works so it's hard for me to offer much of an opinion on the "what's next." Two things you might want to consider, though: Will the waiver itself remain valid if you decide to move to the US with Sharon years down the road? And, immigration processes aside, where would the two of you prefer to live?
