How can I get my original documents back from NVC?

will they ask me for them at the embassy when we go for the interview?

Some of them are special to us like the Marriage cert.

Thanks to everyone here for all the information they share

From what I've heard, NVC will forward your documents to the embassy and the embassy will return them after the interview

Good luck

You should not have sent any original documents to the USCIS or NVC. You BRING original documents, with copies and translations (if needed) to the interview. They review them and give back the originals. The only "original documents" you should send to the USCIS (who will forward it to the NVC) is the fiancee letters of intent, the petition itself, G-325 forms, etc. All else sent are copies. There is not even a need at this point to have sent a copy of any marriage certificates, these are needed only at the interview. The petition, which is what the NVC receives and forwards to the consulate, needs only copies of divorce certificates, if applicable.

In any case, the NVC forwards your entire file to the consulate and if you sent priginals you should get them back at the interview.

Sorry for one error in my post. I just noticed you filed for K-3 so YES you would have sent a COPY of your marriage certificate with the petition for K-3 visa. All else remains the same. NEVER send original documents, such as birth, marriage, divorce certificates. I only hope the NVC will send all to the consulate where it can be retrieved (I read your other post also)

Yes you send Original Notarized Translations of the Foreign Documents if they are not in English, to the NVC, it also asks for photo copies of these Original Notarized Translations. I think that is so they can return the ORIGINALS at the interview. Many people have just sent the ORIGINALS, including us, I am hoping to bring the copies to the interview and ask for the ORIGINALS to be returned. For some Consulates/Embassies this is a new procedure. Good Luck, Mike & Yizhen

Thanks everyone. It seems I waited so long, and now there is much to do in a short time.

Of course there will be "wait again, but I hope it will be short.

Gary, how is everything? Belated congratulations to you and your wife on your marriage.

I hope everything is going well for you and your family.

Has anyone here gone through the interview process? And still trying to find out if wife

and daughter can be scheduled together. I was planning so much on the K-3 that

I did not think about the I-130 process before. From everyone's experience I planned for the K-3 first.

It seems all that I did with the K-3 petition was a waste of time and money.

Thanks again

I have read here that they can be scheduled together. It makes sense, as people sometimes travel a great distance for the interview. Good luck :star:

Things like this are consulate specific. The OP is using the Kyiv consualte and you do not send any documents to Kyiv, you bring them for the interview.

Thank you so much. Doing great! Alla has her green card, is attending 3 English classes, has a "small job" and I think we will need a weekend flat in Montreal now that she has her green card. :)

The interviews for family based visas in Kyiv are usually very easy. I overwhelmingly hear the people there are great and they sure were for us.

Thanks Everyone;

The anxiety begins anew with the NVC trip. Special circumstannces seem to make ouiur trip a little different. The absence of a father and having to write unknown on the form with an attachment along with the documents from Ukraine explaining she is a single mother which I understand is a common occurance there, and I hope the NVC will understand. My wife is afraid to explain this to those who do not know or may not understand, but it is needed if she is to come. I wait for the numbers from NVC (closed today) and begin collecting the documents. I can only hope I am complete enough to avoid the dreaded RFE.

The photos of Ukraine make me wish I was there even with the weather they have now. I have sent the ds230 and 3032 to my wife in preparation for her signature and waiting for some of the originals to be translated. By the time I have numbers this should be done and on its way to me FedEx.

Any suggestions anyone may have for me would be appreciated.

It would be nice to meet everyone sometime. Till then, chin up everyone.
