After holding for a half hour, I spoke with Chris my friendly rep. My I-129f is at 89 days processing time. He told me that K3 applicants are not affected by IMBRA...only the K1 applicants. I basically asked if we were not affected, why the hold up? He responded with, "It's simply backlog ma'am. It has nothing to do with IMBRA." Then proceeded to tell me to call back Sept. 13 if I had not received a desicion.

Wow that sucks :( Why the hell would you have to wait till september???? Thats another 3 months?!!? And why the hell is the backlog on march 5th??? That is really strange. Maybe he screwed something up. Dont worry so much. Another lady told me a couple days ago that they are through the backlog and our I 129f should get approved latest within the next 30 days. So they are just rep's. Dont believe everything they say. My advice.

Keep your head up

I informed him that Sept. 13 would take me over 180 days processing time along with how absurd that sounded to me. Only to get the same backlog...only K1's affected BS.

I'm proud of myself for not swearing the poor guy into crying in the corner, but ARRRGGG!!! I suppose that's why they call it the misinformation line.

By September 13, your whole I-130 process would be complete including the interview at the US Embassy/Consulate. If you look at the latest USCIS processing dates at the latest update, June 13, 06, you would see that they are processing receipt dates of March 05, 2006; the same date of last update on May 22, 06. This is a clear indication that K-3s are being affected by IMBRA. But I hope, friendly rep Chris is right.

I-130 Timeline with USCIS:

It took 92 days for I-130 to get approved from the filing date

NVC Process of I-130:

It took 78 days to complete the NVC process

Interview Process at The U.S. Embassy

Interview took 223 days from the I-130 filing date. Immigrant Visa was issued right after the interview

I know this is probably no consulation, but my K3 took over 7 months to complete. Could be worse. They had no reason for the backlog back then either. They suck. Get used to it ;)

8-30-05 Met David at a restaurant in Germany

3-28-06 David 'officially' proposed

4-26-06 I-129F mailed

9-25-06 Interview: APPROVED!

10-16-06 Flt to US, POE Detroit

11-5-06 Married

7-2-07 Green card received

9-12-08 Filed for divorce

12-5-08 Court hearing - divorce final

A great marriage is not when the "perfect couple" comes together.

It is when an imperfect couple learns to enjoy their differences.

I agree. And if they give you the same September date, tell them to transfer you to somone who has a clue. There is no backlog. They've spent the past several months twiddling their thumbs waiting until someone woke up and figured out how to fix this enormous IMBRA screw up. Your K3 should SAIL through once the RFEs have been sent out.
