I just brought Oath Letter, Green Card, Driver License, and Passport just in case.

If you didn't apply for re-entry permit, you don't have to bring it since you don't have any.

Congratulations and Good Luck! :dance::dance::dance:

Yes you don't need the re-entry permit unless you leave the country between now and the oath.

Don't forget to fill in the paperwork that comes with the Oath letter where you say that nothing has changed since the interview (e.g. you didn't become communist).

If there is a passport stand you might want to bring 2 passport photos so that you can apply there and I was told the processing is much faster than if you go to the post office. You don't need to bring all of the immigration documents you've had for all those years. The oath letter and the paperwork are sufficient along with the green card.

I understand the name change occurs at the time of the ceremony because this is done by a judge, not by the officer that interviewed you, so when you get your naturalization certificate make sure it has your new name on it and sign it with your new name as it appears on the certificate.

hi...when your finally passed the citizenship...where did you got youre I130 upgrade to sent to uscis..please help thanks..

You can mail the copy of NOA1 and certificate of naturalization to the mailing address on the bottom of NOA1.

Or best way is to call USCIS National Customer Care Center, and ask the customer representative to open the service request.

If you provide email address or something like that, you will get an email from officer for request to fax or mail the copy of the certificate of naturalization with instructions.

Hey guys! So happy to let you know that I received my Naturalization Oath Ceremony today! :dance: My Oath Ceremony is on March 12, 2009 @ 10:30am at Montebello Ca. I thought it'll gonna be in LA. Well, it says there that I need to bring the letter (Oath notice), PR card, any immigration docs and reentry permit but I did not apply for any reentry permit, is that normal?? And also it came in my old name, is the correction gonna be made at my Nat Certificate?? What did you guys brought at the ceremony??

Ha, I told my wife, she has to be good until her oath ceremony, drive carefully, don't try to overthrow the government, don't join any communist parties, none of that walking the streets at night trying to rent out her body, don't rob any banks, least don't get caught at it, and if you have any thoughts of divorcing me, postpone those until after your oath. And I told her I will look both ways before crossing the street so she doesn't have to fool around with death certificates.

Wasn't sure if she should bring my 30.06 into the oath to show them she was still wiling to bear arms for the USA, but we decided to leave that at home. In our case from the time we received the N-445, we only had two days for the oath ceremony, so didn't have the time to travel to a foreign country. She was a good girl so could answer No to those 8 questions. Those we checked off in the car, we were at Bloomington, was aware of the date, so filled that out as well, the actual signature is done before the officer.

She asked if they could void out her ten year green card, only had it for a couple of months, went through a great expense to get it, and she would feel naked without it. They said no, she had to toss it in a bucket.

Have no idea why I brought our thick brief case with all of our original documents and history with the USCIS, but that stayed locked up in the car. Habit I suppose. So for her, with cell phone left in the car, was just her green card and the N-445. I went in naked with just my camera to make their search easier, just was trying to be accommodating. No problem in bringing the camera in but was asked to keep it off until I was instructed to turn it on so I could photo my wife receiving her certificate. That was strange, the officer in charge handed her certificate facing toward me and posed with my wife, with my high res camera, really got a very detailed photo of her certificate. Did I break the law? Guess not, they let me walk out.

We were so excited during and after the oath ceremony, was a long hard road, but depression hit us in the car, because with no green card and no US passport, realized if anything happened to her family, we were dead. So immediately applied for her US passport, in anticipation of that, already read very carefully through the forms and had them filled out with acrobat and had taken her passport photos. Nine days later she had her passport, then we felt free at last. But before that she wanted to show her certificate to her employer, they are very strict on that e-verification program and really got edging when her conditional card was close to expiring with no signs from the USCIS. They changed her status and never have to bother with that again, ever. She wanted to do that first as the DOS has been noted to lose your certificate. DVM or voters registration didn't want to see it, was no big deal with SS, took care of that a couple of weeks later. Then we were done.
