Oh my god I got a touch today! Does that mean that I may get an approval shortly?! No email yet and the uscis lists 7/15 as the last update but it still lists my petition as received and pending. What does this mean? I think I'm going to have a heart attack!!!!

It's something. I would take it as a good sign.

Yeah... I guess the whole site was down... it was like that for me at 5 am this morning until I got to work... but there were posts during that time... so I don't quite understand.

No approval yet. Just a touch. No status update- still received and pending. But at least that means that they acknowledge that I do have a file there and it isn't lost in some black hole. So long without anything at all! I'll take anything I can get,

That's keeping your chin up! And for all you know it might be in the mail on it's way to you! BTW, I didn't recieve my approval email till just after 5PM....

Hey everyone... I got the email from the embassy. They say the papers were sent to Maria and we can schedule the interview as soon as we are ready. They mentioned a " Marriageability Statement form". Any idea what that is? Perhaps my letter stating my intent?

Not sure if it's the same thing, but there is something similar in Jordan that is just an official document saying they are single, never been married, divorced, ect. Apparently they have to show this before they can marry and also show it for tax purposes, ect. My Habibi got his at the the courthouse.

GUYS I HAVE ANOTHER QUESTION! do i have the send the I 134 to the embassy or, in my case... i'm going to the interview and i'm bringing all my financials so i can present it during the interview at the consul request? please let me know.... i appreciate it :)

For Jordan we bring it along with us to the interview, no paperwork gets sent into the embassy prior to interview. But I beleve every embassy might be different so your best bet is to e-mail the embassy.

I hope so.. well.. I hope it finds me. I am selling my house next Friday. I already put a change of address in with the Post Office and also I notified USCIS (as if they will actually do it). So with any luck my paper NOA2 will get to my new address without any problems.. although I've heard some horror stories on here about this same situation.

You're going to get your approval very soon...but do you think it's possible that your touch was updating your address in the system? How long ago did you inform them?

I actually changed my address on the USCIS website last night, but I have a very very hard time believing that someone moved at the speed of light up in Vermont to make that change. From what I understand (and I could be absolutely wrong) the touches are from actually movements of the file? I could be totally wrong, but I assumed that (in an effort to not lose files.. or at least to try to keep track of where files are and who has them) they're scanned somehow when they are physically moved or worked on. My first touch was on 3/4, which I assumed was when my file was put into whatever Escher-esque filing room USCIS maintains. I imagine it resembles the warehouse in Indiana Jone, except it's in 5 dimensions and no one bothers to try to keep it organized.

Anyway, that's just my assumption. File gets scanned and put in a box indicating its in a box in storage. File gets taken out and scanned and put somewhere to be worked on.

I have no idea how to explain how some people get no touches before they get their NOA2. None of this makes any sense, and it makes my brain hurt trying to make sense of it. Here I am feeling SO HAPPY that a little insignificant number on a government website has rolled from 3/4 to 7/15, and my status hasn't changed to approved yet. THAT'S how desperate I am for any sort of positive information.

So to return to your idea, it's possible I suppose. But I just have a difficult time believing that anyone at USCIS moves at anything other than a snail's pace on a good day... and only if they feel like it, or if Jupiter is in ascension with Mercury on every second Tuesday or something like that. I have a much easier time believing that any request to them goes directly into the garbage without passing go.

Regardless, I'm still happy.

I got our approval email at 10 this morning!!!!! Just in time for VJ to be down for several hours hahaha. Also just in time for me to have booked a flight for the hell of it next month :P Now I'm gonna have to go again just a couple months after haha.

Congratulations! Glad it came for you...finally. Hopefully, you won't have to wade through our off topic conversations for much longer.

Hope its approval...and not just the change of address!

Hello Everyone!

I'm leaving tomorrow to see my Lampros, finally! I'm bringing him all the documents I collected and was just wondering on opinion of:

Are you guys sending originals of everything? I made copies of NOA1/NOA2 and even my birth certificate ... will this be substantial enough? I'm worried to send any part of original document as I've heard they snatch it up..

Any help will be greatly appreciated :D

i used all copies...I didn't send one original document unless it was a form or letter that required a signature to my fiance' for his interview. But, each consulate is different.

Hey everyone... I got the email from the embassy. They say the papers were sent to Maria and we can schedule the interview as soon as we are ready. They mentioned a " Marriageability Statement form". Any idea what that is? Perhaps my letter stating my intent?

Derrick...I don't think this is a letter of intent. In Jamaica it is called a No-Impediment to Marriage (cost $100+) that is obtained from the same office that houses birth/death/marriage/divorce records in Jamaica. I didn't bother with getting it since both of us are divorced and had divorce certificates...and the Jamaican Embassy has not really requested it on every couple's interview. We took our chances, and had no problems.

Nonetheless, if you are not going to the interview, you still need to update your letter of intent. I have read horror stories where they have found loopholes to deny the petition based on lack of interest of the petitioner at the Embassy level. So better safe than sorry...renew that letter of intent!

Congratulations! Did you get the email at 10:15 by chance?

I also had recently booked a trip because it seemed my NOA2 was ever elusive. Then I got the NOA2 and now wish I'd booked the trip at least a month later, so it could overlap with the interview. Oh well; it'll all work out I'm sure.

Hi Derek,

I know in Ireland, there is a form called "Freedom to Marry". It is a letter stating that you are legally free to marry. I looked into it and it is not required between Ireland and USA but it is required by some counteries. maybe it is that type of letter.

It varies from one office to another.. some require additional info.

I would highly recommend it...it does not have to be notarized. An updated letter is not required if you are attending the interview.
