I just got done reading a post from another impatient fellow. I think the problem with the USCIS phone system is the incessant calling from impatient people 1 week after filing. If I was in control of the phones and silly calls from impatient people came in everyday, well before the allotted time, I too would restrict the information the operators had. The cost would be huge and I can see the burden those calls would be. However I would make sure the internet site was very functional and allowed a lot of traffic.

I agree with you D. I am almost at the 4 month mark and while yes there have been a few bad days I have actually gotten quite a few things accomplished while waiting for my SO. I have never called USCIS, because I won't get impatient until I am outside the processing time of six months. If everyone did that I believe the phone system would probably work a lot better. What do I know though everyone handles waiting differently.

Agreed, most all of the USEM I have seen charge people to call them... I would not be against having to pay a fee to speak with someone... ASSUMING they actually had valid and useful information! The website makes the most sense though... it is so easy to use the website in real time. However, that would mean the the WHOLE system would need to be overhauled... AND IT NEEDS IT!

The USCIS is trying to deport an 11 year old girl here in Atlanta... Father is a citizen now and the Mother has her green card.. some screw up did not allow the young girl to get hers.... so now they want to deport her.... UNBELIEVABLE!

<-- climbs off his soapbox

What a terrible waste of resources. Deporting is more expensive than correcting the problem. I swear the word is full of geniuses!!!

Yes, the USCIS is saying this young girl age 11 (who has been here since she was 2) has to leave by July 23 and it could take a year to get her back... She only speaks English and will have to go to school back in Poland.

The system is BROKEN and it appears that nobody wants to even acknowledge that it is broken, let alone try to fix it.

Maybe when I retire, I will volunteer :)

That is blatant stupidity. That kind of non-sense makes me wonder what kind of people are working over there.... heartless idiots?

news link to the article

I wish I knew more of the detail.... but yes, it is ridiculous. The family has been here 9 years... one parent has his citizenship and the other her green card... it surely does appear that they have tried to do things right... legal...

Ok, back off my soapbox I go.
