I swear as I read the previous posts, you guys add 3 pages!

My honey went back to camp today, so back to texting through skype and the occasional internet cafe chat! I'm really grateful that he was able to hear about the NOA2 via phone and be at home to look up the stuff we have to organize now.

Ahhhh, I hope he gets to have time of the end of July for us to see each other!!

Maybe I'll post some pics too of us. Just a note, we're a bit goofy.

Maire-You two are gorgeous and whenever you may have kids, they'll come out as super model babies!

I've looked at others pictures too, and it's so encouraging to see all of us so in love with our SO!

01/23/2009 ----------Leave Athens and my Honey for the processes to begin

02/10/2009 ----------Beginning of Greek Military Obligations for 11 months

03/21/2009 ----------Stationed to Rhodes

07/16/2009-----------Meeting in Spain for 6 days!

01/10/2010-----------Gets OUT of the Army!

02/16/2010-----------Interview!

02/24/2010-----------Lampros arrives in WA!!!

Hi Folks,

I mentioned on here before that I have been training to ride 100km/63m in the American Diabetes Association's Tour de Cure in Reston, Virginia.

I just wanted to post here, to see if any of my Feb VSC family might be willing to sponsor the ride ($10, $25, whatever is left over from all the fees associated with this process!), I would be grateful. I know times are tough, but it is a worthy cause. I would bet that everyone here knows someone who is diabetic (even if they are not aware of it). Some of the quick facts:

23 million Americans have diabetes (about 1 in 12 Americans) - about 5 million do not know they are.

57 million more are "pre-diabetic" - at great risk of developing diabetes and already exhibiting some elevation in Blood Glucose

$174 billion is spent (direct and indirect) on this disease annually

Diabetes kills annually more than AIDS and Breast Cancer *combined*

For many, the first diagnosis is when they have been living with the disease for a long time and did not know this. Often the complications are already taking their toll. Just one example is one of my closest friend - his diagnoses came with a simple sore in his foot which due to diabetes resulted in an infection that spread to his foot. He was hospitalized, put into a medically induced coma, part of his foot was amputated, and 2 years later, was dead. He is why I am riding this year (and also for myself as I was diagnosed about 18 months ago).

If you care to donate, go to http://tinyurl.com/c8agxr

Please remember to ask your doctor to check your blood sugar levels to screen for problems at every annual visit. If you see problems early, there is a LOT you can do to avoid any complications and live a long, healthy life.

Dave

Ahh, I only added one so far, we don't take pictures very well lol. I love to go through them anyways, we have so much fun together!

Goofy is better, I can't relate with serious people unless on a totally awkward conversational level.
