Yes. I have my phone from Philippines and im using it for texting. I bought Smart OFW pinoy sim before i left PI.

I have two cellphones now, my US phone, and PI phone. I text my friends in PI via my US phone (Metro PCS) because its free and they reply on my PI phone for just 1 peso. a cheap way of communication.

It is better to use US phone with a phone card to call PI because it is cheaper.

That last one is from my cell-phone, which bills directly to my home line. Pretty slick. Of course, I still pay the per-minute cell charge as usual, in addition to their's.

There is one that is sold here in the gas stations for $5.00 and I use it with my cell to call her on her cell, I usually get 37 min. it is a yellow card but it is called the red card.

we use vonage and it is only $24.50 + tax. the good thing about it is it is UNLIMITED CALL to our house in the PI your house in PI should have DSL connection though.
