U.S. Embassy makes huge mistake -- freaking out!

Hello everybody,

Just wanted to rant a little about a huge mistake the U.S. embassy London has made with my visa petition. We recieved notice that my petition had been approved January 13, 2009 and that my fiance would be recieving his packet 3 in the coming days. Today, instead of receiving our packet 3, we got a letter in the mail that our petition was cancelled because he did not apply for his visa within the year time limit. Obviously this is wrong since I filed my petition less than six months ago and he was never even given the opportunity to apply! I called the embassy visa helpline -- which cost £1.20 a minute, by the way -- and was told I had to email my concerns. So now I have sent an email and am totally left hanging over whether this issue is going to get resolved or not and I am really anxious!!

Has anything like this happened to anybody else? Is the embassy good at correcting their own mistakes quickly? How can something like this happen??

I know your freaking Sarah.

But its obviously just an administrative error. Sometimes they need these things written to them in an email so that sense can be made of the situation.

I should imagine its hard. The long wait, then someone screws up!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't panic sweetie. Pushbrk up there (a man of many words as you can see:)) has been around here for a while, and looks like he might have seen this before if he is so sure that it will be rectified.And trust me, he'd tell you if he thought you were doomed.

Write the email. Be as succinct as you can.
