Hello,

My name is Ovi and I need some help. I had to move from Chicago to Dallas because of my job. I have everything completed except the oath ceremony for my citizenship. It is very frustrating because it has been 5 months since I received any paperwork and I went to the infopass service where they told me that my file is at the Texas service center since September 20th, 2008. I have been waiting for this citizenship for a very long time because I am engaged to a wonderful girl in Romania and it is torture waiting for this oath ceremony so long!!!

I was wanting to see if anyone has gone through this, or if you have any suggestions on how I can get my file to be released from the Texas Service Center. Any help at all will be apreciated, every day counts for me.

thank you!

Did you do the AR-11 for address change or notify them to change your address?

I had a friend who was living in Southern California. He applied for citizenship over there, got approved at the interview.

After the interview he moved back to NYC. He filed for AR-11 and guess what happened?!? He received the oath notice at his new address in NYC.

Too bad the oath ceremony was scheduled in Southern California. He scheduled an infopass and they were making problems. He said: "You know what? Forget about it!" He flew to Southern California, took the oath, became a US Citizen. He just wanted to get that done and be over.

He just told me: "I bet I will receive an oath notice scheduled in NYC as well" :)

Yes, I did the Change of address, I went to the infopass appointment and double checked that they have the right one, but still I have not received anything. They have told me thought that my papers are in Texas at the Texas Service Center and when they release them from there I will be able to get my oath ceremony date. I was just wondering if there was a way to contact them to see if they would release it. I originally filed the N400 on April 22nd, 2008

I don't mind going back to Chicago for the ceremony, but when I called and asked them they told me that it just cannot be done, I have to wait and do it in Dallas. I will go to Washington if I have to, I don't mind.

Ummm...they don;t really know what they are doing. You'll hear a lot of stuff from different people at the USCIS. You call the customer service line, they tell you one thing, you go for info pass and they tell you a different story. Oh well best of luck. I hope you hear something soon.
