People between NOA2 and Interview ~2009~

I called NVC yesterday and found out our case had been received a few days ago. They told me our packet hadn't been shipped yet because it's under "additional processing". Hopefully, they don't take too long. :( I guess we all want our packets received and shipped the same day, or close to it.

There are a lot of people who get hung up at NVC.

Someone (I think Scandal, I grabbed it from his sig) has started keeping track of how many days it takes to escape similar to Igor's list: http://apnvc.info/

It is an unknown, but at least there seems to be a maximum time - it's nearly unheard of to be stuck for more than 50 days or so. Yes, I know it's a LOOOONG time, but at least having limits, I hope makes you feel better about it. :-/

Thanks for that. :) I talked to Ian about it and he said if we're delayed 2 months somewhere, he'll come to the US for awhile, even though we know he'll have to fly back to London for his interview (of course). I was a little down about it most of the day, but hearing that made me feel better, and seeing the chart is interesting, as well. Someone spent 97 days @ NVC. Good gosh.

Thanks again! :)

Yeah, that's the nice thing about this site, someone has been through nearly everything you can imagine relating to the process, and there's support and experience so that it can help take the mystery out of things - once the unknowns are removed, it's easier to deal with. :)

Hope your plans for a long visit work out! :D Maybe he'll get here, only to have NVC release you and have to go back early!!

Hi,

I sent in my 'package 3' to the embassy and it was recieved by them on 1 july. Everytime i phone the DOS they keep saying that:

- they sent me the package 3 on the 25 July

- they have not recieved anything yet

I know that they have recieved it and have been told for fellow VJ's that it might not just be on the system yet..

Can anyone tell me if it is supposed to take this long? It will be 5 weeks this wednesday. I a getting slightly impatient and probably more worried.

Hi,

My fiance emailed and called the embassy and they emailed him saying that our file should be reviewed and an interview date assigned within 4 weeks or so. We were getting the same answers u are, and we returned packet 3, the checklist from packet 4 (signed by Embassy on July 20th) and my finance already had his medical done (July 23rd). I have called the DOS and they are telling me soon too. I would contact the embassy and DOS and see what the hold-up is.

Thanks,

Kam

Did you put a travel date? Cos I hear something towards the line of them assigning interview dates according to when you intend to travel. Please can someone confirm if that is still the case.

We did not. Our packet had a cover letter attached a letter explaining when we have our wedding date planned and that he wanted to leave by August 1. Since that date is no longer possible, we are waiting to see what happens.

I think it's always advisable to put expected travel date on the space provided, wedding date(even if not confirmed) but seeing as you just sent it on July 20th, I doubt they would have been able to give an interview that quick. Fingers crossed u'll get a notification pretty soon and maybe an interview scheduled for a few days after. It happens.

Siya, I'm not a CR-1/IR-1 expert, but going by your time line, it looks like you have skipped a lot of steps? What about all the NVC processing? Did you really jump the gun, or just not fill things in on here?

If you send in packet 3 before the embassy expects it, then it may not ever get into the "system" (you say you sent it to them 24 days before they sent it to you). For us, they sent us packet 3 just a week after they got it from NVC, so that indicates to me that if you sent it 24 days early they might not have had your file at all!

Please double check/fill in your time line, or it'll be really hard to help you get to the bottom of it.

ok. Nik+Heather your right...i am an idiot when it comes to dates...

The DOS told me that the Embassy sent me a letter (package 3) on the 25 JUNE ( not july)...which they did. I fiilled out the forms and the Embassy recieved these on the 1 JULY. So i guess that I have so far done everything according to what i have been asked. I also completed the medical on 13 JULY.

The reason that i am starting to sweat now though is becuase the people at the DOS are saying that there is nothing on their system except when they sent ME the package 3.

Kam, going by what you said about your fiance and being assigned a date in 4 weeks..well my 4 weeks is up. :crying:

Do you think that this has anything to do with a backlog...maybe due to staff going away for summer etc?

Just an idea, but do you guys think it would be a good idea to resend packet 3?

It's true, it does seem as if they have slowed to a crawl over the summer, so...Let me see what Sammils did to finally get their interview date set.

Here's a thread with lots of techniques that people suggested to get an interview set after they have completed everything.

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...203711&st=0

1. Send a new packet 3 after 6 weeks.

-Put travel dates on the checklist even if you don't have tickets yet. Make them reasonable - say, 4 weeks out, but don't lie - we put September/October on ours in May and still got an interview in June.

2. Send a letter.

3. Contact your congress people to help you.

Thanks guys. I think i am going to follow your advice Nik+heather, resending everything after 6 weeks..Which is the end of next week!

But this is where things start to go CRAZZY...

I phoned up the DOS today, nothing, still saying that they have not received anything. (the woman was really rude!)

Then called up the US Embasssy , same thing. Nothing. Although the guy said that if you have proof of them having received it..they probably have and just to wait another 2 weeks. ahhhh!!!

And now my husband just called up the DOS and they told him that everything was in order and that they were just awaiting the Embassy to assign a 'package 4'.That they had my medical results too.. she also mentioned a backlog...

I think this is what is causing all the problams!!..this slow-down

Everyone... Good news! We got our interview date. Vik will be interviewing on August 25th. For those of you that were put on AP, please describe what happened. We want to be prepared. See, his parents will need to get a visa to come here, venues will need to be booked, and cards made... so we would like any insight or experience that you would be willing to share about what to expect if being put on AP.

Thanks,

Kam
