To flee poverty, Filipinas marry foreigners

On the otherhand, foreigners here married to pinays must not dismiss this because it is reality. The phenomenon is much less in western-phil marriages and far more common in pan asian marriages. I wish the article would also put the blame on east asian countries that allow marriage brokers. Those married this way have incredibly high domestic abuse. Not surprisim some most of the time, the couples only meet during their wedding day and when the bride goes to the grooms country, she becomes an unrewarded domestic helper, abused by the husband and in laws, etc.

While i do not mean to paint intermarriage in the bad light, i hope foreigners and pinays here will be more willing to accept the reality that these are happening. Just because your relationship isnt that way does not mean it is not happening to others. A few years ago, Cambodia had a temporary ban on Cambodians marrying Koreans. Vietnam implemented a stricter measure.

I think the South Korean government should get heavy blame too. They allow marriage brokers and do not investigate much when issuing spousal visas. Southeast Asian countries have step up in preventing such incidents but it wont work in SK govt will not help. I hope it does not come to the time that the mafia takes control of the "marriage trade" which will force nations to ban marriages with Koreans.

Even Taiwan already stepped up in the marriage broker scams. It's the 21st now and women are not doormats anymore. Se reject that social structure.

You have cited zero data in making this assertion. The last article said nothing about domestic abuse statistics. Four in a row so far.

I guess you are counting on us not being able to read, or just immensely stupid.

While i do not mean to paint intermarriage in the bad light,

You are doing just that, and without data to support it.

i hope foreigners and pinays here will be more willing to accept the reality that these are happening.

We aren't a herd of cows, so probably not likely.

Male in fantasyland in denial.

If these does not exist, scammed men by foreign bride do not exist either.

Male chauvinism at best. Better yet "captain save a third world lady" syndrome then expect submissiveness then cry foul when he gets scammed.

You just got what you deserve.

I say, men who want submissive wife deserves to get scammed. Good riddance

Sure, those aren't data statistically but those are not isolated in incidences. Maybe if you read more on what is going on in the world that just republican-democrat bickering you'll realize that domestic abuse is much of a reality even in intermarriage.

By the way, if you read the links, there were statistics/studies included regarding spousal abuse

But then again, it seems that many non-asian men feel so entitled and so heroic that they are getting an "exotic" submissive women.

Lets be honest here. Shall the Philippines be like Korea economically, would you really think it would be easy for a foreign male to get a young wife?

Korean women back in those years of poverty used to marry lots of americans and foreigners esp americans. Now it is in decline and it is poor men marrying poorer brides.

Yknow, lying to oneself is not good.

I knew it!

Your propaganda was mimicking the feminazi tactic of saying women who choose to stay at home and raise children are abused. A home-maker is submissive.

Even though it is entirely their choice, you keep repeating how much you hate men who have "submissive" wives.

...expect submissiveness then cry foul when he gets scammed.

You just got what you deserve.

You have a lot of hatred inside you, obviously. :D

This hatred lays bare another arm of the anti-immigration coalition: the feminazis. I don't have any problem with their hatred for men, who cares. But just don't expect us to marry you when we have millions of beautiful women worldwide who appreciate a man that provides for them.

That's what makes them so angry: the competition blows them out of the water. Comes down to jealosy and envy.

I don't see anything wrong with an old man marrying a young woman as long as he didn't lie about his age and didn't make promises to her that he'll support her and her family. If they have a mutual understanding of what is expected from each other, then that's their business.

Domestic violence doesn't happen between foreigners and locals only. Nearly one in four women in the United States reports experiencing violence by a current or former spouse or boyfriend at some point in her life according to http://www.futureswithoutviolence.org/content/action_center/detail/754. Rihanna is a multi-millionaire but that didn't stop Chris Brown from beating her up. I'm sure there are abuses in foreigners/Filipinas marriage as well as what you have pasted from the links you have. But newspapers don't like reporting happy relationships. You won't hear about the Asian brides being treated as goddesses by their older husbands. Between marrying a young local who could barely provide for himself and an older Kano who can not only provide for them, but to their future kids and to the girl's family as well, the latter does seem to be more appealing to them.

Ann Romney is a stay-at-home mom and nobody seems to think that she's Mitt's slave.

I'm just so glad you revealed your true self after showing you have no evidence for your claims. Calling the husbands here "whoremongers" and the women therefore prostitutes. :D

This is an important insight into the rescue industry and feminazis: what they are really all about is hatred of pretty typical people on this forum. They pretend something else with these vague but incendiary terms like "human trafficking" and "marriage brokers".

That's why it is important not to let them get away with lying about domestic abuse statistics and lying with phony rhetoric.

Here is an alarming article with some actual data in it on domestic abuse in the Philippines:

My link

The data, released by the US State Department, showed that the Philippine National Police (PNP) reported 9,225 cases of domestic violence against women and their children from January through November 2010.

That was a 91% increase over the previous year. That was quoted from the 2010 Human Rights Watch report, which was produced in 2011. I just looked up the summary report for 2011 here:

2011 report Human Rights Watch

Not one word about foreign marriages and abuse. Instead, there is a section on domestic workers being abused abroad. Kang obviously has no concern about abuse of Filipinas because if that were true she would be looking at the appalling Philippine statistics and the plight of domestic workers, and not wives who don't even get the attention of reports by human rights watch.

Now of course Kang is pretending that we are saying there has never been any case, ever, of a Filipina abused by a foreign husband. That's the tactic of people with hidden agendas: to misrepresent what other people are saying.

Interesting that Kang has no timeline, no country, no talk of her own immigration situation that I can see from previous posts. I didn't look through all of them, but most of us who actually are involved in immigration talk a lot about our spouses and our own situation. Makes you wonder what is really going on.

There are more problems in the Middle East for OFWs than for spouses coming to the USA.

Just saying.
